MORAVIAN’S ALEX HERSCH & IAN HECK RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Senior wide receiver Alex Hersch (Macungie, PA/Emmaus HS) and junior kicker Ian Heck (Easton, PA/Easton HS) of the Moravian College football team are ranked in the third NCAA Division III statistical rankings of 2010 through games of September 18th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in six team categories.

Hersch, pictured at right, is 61st in the country in punt returns, averaging 8.12 yards per return.  Hersch has returned eight punts for 65 yards this season with a long return of 23 yards versus Susquehanna University.

Heck, pictured at left, is tied for 60th in the country in field goals per game at 0.67.  Heck is two-for-three on field goal attempts this season with a long of 25 yards versus Susquehanna.  His only miss would have been a career long 45-yarder at McDaniel College that fell just short of the crossbar.

Moravian is 14th in the nation in total defense at 212.0 yards per game, 36th in rushing defense at 85.0 yards per contest, 23rd in pass efficiency defense at a 83.46 rating, 31st in scoring defense at 13.33 points per game, 50th in kickoff returns with an average return of 22.44 yards and 33rd in passing defense at 127.0 yards per game.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, September 25th in a Centennial Conference game versus Johns Hopkins University.  Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field in Bethlehem as Moravian celebrates Family Day.
