MORAVIAN’S WACKER NAMED CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK;
TEGAN & GORDON NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

LANCASTER, PA --- Junior defensive back David Wacker (Parkton, MD/Hereford HS) of the Moravian College football team has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week while sophomore running back Joe Tegan (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Township HS) and junior defensive lineman Patrick Gordon (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame HS) were named to the Weekly Honor Roll for their performances in Moravian’s 14-13win versus rival Muhlenberg College on Saturday.

Wacker, pictured at right, the fourth straight Greyhound to earn Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors in weeks Moravian has played, helped the Greyhound defense hold Muhlenberg to 232 yards on 60 plays.  Wacker had a big hand in the win as he made seven tackles with four solo stops and one of the Greyhounds' four sacks in the game.  Wacker also blocked a 35-yard field goal attempt with 4:50 remaining in the third quarter to keep Moravian's lead at 14-7.

Tegan, pictured at left, was named the Moravian Most Valuable Player of the Greyhounds’ annual rivalry game with Muhlenberg.  Tegan had a career high 101 yards, his first 100-yard game, and a touchdown on a career best 23 carries. Tegan also caught one pass for five yards in the win as Moravian closed the season with a four-game winning streak.

Gordon turned in possibly the biggest special teams play for Moravian the victory.  With 1:05 remaining in the game, a low snap on a PAT attempt allowed Gordon enough time to push through the line and block the game-tying extra-point and give Moravian the 14-13 win.  Gordon, pictured at right, also saw action on defense during the game and had a fumble recovery with 17 seconds remaining in the first half.

The Greyhounds finished the regular season at 6-4 overall and 6-3 in Centennial Conference action.  Moravian will find out on Monday if the team has earned one of six berths to the 2010 ECAC South Bowl Games.
