THREE GREYHOUND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN FINAL NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the final NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Statistics Ranking of the 2010-11 season, and the Greyhounds are ranked in two team categories.

Junior forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) finished the season fifth in the nation in blocked shots per game with an average of 3.8.  Blair, pictured at right, recorded 102 blocked shots in 27 games this year, breaking her own single season record of 78 set last season.

Senior guard Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS) was tied for 45th the nation in points per game with a scoring average of 18.0, and she was tied for 99th in free throw percentage at 80.2 percent.  Heffner, pictured at left, scored 486 points in 27 contests this season for Moravian, reaching double figures in 26 of 27 games and 20-plus points in 11 contests.  She was also 146-of-182 at the foul line.

Senior guard/forward Emily Smith (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South HS) finished in a tie for 50th in the country in free throw percentage at 83.3 percent.  Smith, pictured at right, was 70-for-84 at the foul line this year in 22 games, and she was one of four Moravian players shooting over 80 percent at the line this season.

The Greyhounds were 13th in the nation in free throw percentage at 76.1 percent.  Moravian made 520-of-683 free throws this season, and the squad finished third in blocked shots with an average of 6.4 per contest with 174 total blocked shots.

Moravian posted a 14-13 overall record and was 9-5 in the Landmark Conference regular season.  The Greyhounds competed in both the Landmark Conference Tournament and the ECAC Division III South Championship Tournament Quarterfinals in the postseason.
