MORAVIAN’S BRENDAN CLOSE HONORED AS ECAC DIVISION III SOUTH BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK

CAPE COD, MA --- Junior pitcher Brendan Close (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom HS) of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the ECAC Division III South Baseball Pitcher of the Week for a second straight week for his performance last week.

Close, who also earned Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday for the second consecutive week, continued his standout season with a five-hit, 1-0 win over Susquehanna University in his only game last week.  Close posted his second straight shutout and has not allowed a run in 17 innings, and the victory was his school record 17th career win.  Close also allowed one walk while striking out nine Crusaders.  Close is now 17-3 in his Moravian career, and moved into second in the record books with his fifth career shutout, and he is second with 177 career strikeouts.

The Greyhounds, 12-6 overall and 5-1 in Landmark Conference action, are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 30th in a non-conference game versus Misericordia University beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Gillespie Field.
