FIVE GREYHOUND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Five members of the nationally-ranked Moravian College softball team are ranked in the second NCAA Division III Baseball Statistics Ranking of the 2011 season released this week, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in two team categories.

Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) is ranked in six categories including being third in the nation in earned run average at 0.56.  Carmo , pictured at right, is also tied for 14th in shutouts with four, 19th in hits allowed per seven innings at 4.69, 26th in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.23, tied for 57th in victories with eight and 83rd in strikeouts per seven innings at 4.7.

Sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, PA/Brandwine Heights HS), pictured at left, is tied for 14th in the country in shutouts with four.

Senior pitcher Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS), pictured at right, is tied 73rd in shutouts with two this season.

Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona HS) is tied for 81st in the nation in hit by pitch at 0.19.  Ernst, pictured at bottom left, has been hit by three pitches in 16 games this spring.

Freshman outfielder/catcher Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS), pictured at bottom right, is tied for 24th in the country with three triples this season.

The Greyhounds are ranked second in the nation in team earned run average at 0.94, and Moravian is also tied for 15th in won-loss percentage at .850.

Moravian, which now ranked 18th in the country with a 17-3 overall record and a 2-0 mark in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to the field on Saturday, April 9th in a Landmark Conference doubleheader versus The United States Merchant Marine Academy beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field.
