MORAVIAN SOFTBALL SQUAD MOVES UP TO 18TH IN LATEST NFCA DIVISION III TOP 25 POLL

STARKVILLE, MS --- The Moravian College softball team moved up three spots to 18th in the seventh regular season National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll for 2011 released Wednesday. 

Linfield (OR) received all eight first-place votes and 200 points to hold down the top position while Emory (GA) University has 188 points for second place.  Louisiana College is in third place with 179 points while DePauw (IN) University is fourth with 169 points.  Central (IA) College holds down the fifth spot with 162 points. 

The Greyhounds, who have 55 points, were seventh in the preseason poll and tied for ninth in the first regular season poll before falling to 11th.  Moravian then dropped to 23rd in the fourth regular season poll and down to 25th before rising up to 22nd two weeks ago and 21st last week.

Moravian is currently 17-3 on the season including a 5-3 loss to Emory on March 8th, and a doubleheader split winning 3-0 and losing 6-0 to then-ranked The College of New Jersey on March 17th.  TCNJ received 23 points and is just two points outside of the Top 25.  The Greyhounds have a home doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, April 12th versus 24th-ranked Lebanon Valley College at Blue & Grey Field.
