MORAVIAN’S KRISTINA RUGGIERO & MICAH LEONARD NAMED LANDMARK CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, N.J. --- Junior Kristina Ruggiero (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove HS) of the Moravian College women’s outdoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week while sophomore Micah Leonard (York, PA/William Penn HS) was honored as the Landmark Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for a second consecutive week for their performances last week.

Ruggiero, pictured at right, won the 800-meter run at the Gwynedd-Mercy College Mid-Week Twilight Invitational in 2:19.75, and she was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:58.23.

Leonard, pictured at left, won the triple jump at the Gwynedd-Mercy College Mid-Week Twilight Invitational with a school record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC Division III qualifying distance of 11.80 meters (38 feet, 8 3/4 inches). Leonard also won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 5.27 meters, and she was 13th in both the 100-meter dash in 13.66 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 27.91 seconds.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st at the 2011 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Juniata College as Moravian looks to win its fourth straight Landmark Conference title.
