NINE GREYHOUND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN LATEST NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Nine members of the nationally-ranked Moravian College softball team are ranked in the fifth NCAA Division III Baseball Statistics Ranking of the 2011 season released this week for games through April 24th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in five team categories.

Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) is ranked in five categories including being 21st in the nation in earned run average at 1.35.  Carmon is also tied for 55th in shutouts with four, tied for 26th in saves with two, 35th in hits allowed per seven innings at 5.63 and tied for 47th in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.28.

Sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, PA/Brandwine Heights HS) is also tied for 55th in the country in shutouts with four while senior Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) is tied for 31st with five shutouts.

Sophomore infielder Shannen Mohr (Slatington, PA/Parkland HS) is 57th in the country in batting average at .465, and she is tied for 12th in on-base percentage at .587 and tied for 46th in walks per game at 0.59.

Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona HS) is tied for 55th in the nation in hit by pitch at 0.19.  Ernst has been hit by five pitches in 27 games this spring.

Freshman outfielder/catcher Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) is tied for 31st in the country with four triples this season while sophomore first baseman Amanda Dizinno (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive HS) is 16th in toughest to strikeout with just one strikeout in 69 at-bats this spring.

Freshman outfielder Miranda Sergas (Lansdale, PA/North Penn HS) is tied for 36th in the country with three sacrifice flies this season, and she is tied for 43rd in toughest to strikeout with one strikeout every 34 at-bats while senior outfielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA/Easton HS) is tied for 36th with three sacrifice flies.

The Greyhounds are ranked 11th in the nation in team earned run average at 1.53, and Moravian is also tied for 14th in the country in won-loss percentage at .853, 31st in scoring at 7.18 runs per game, 46th in batting average at .340 and tied for 50th in doubles per game at 1.82.

Moravian, which is ranked 18th in the country with a 30-6 overall record and a 9-1 mark in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to the field on Thursday, April 28th in a non-conference doubleheader at Ramapo College of New Jersey beginning at 3:30 p.m.
