MORAVIAN’S KERRY MCKINLEY HONORED LANDMARK CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, N.J. --- Senior Kerry McKinley (Sparta, NJ/Pope John XXIII HS) of the Moravian College women’s tennis team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for her performance last week.

McKinley helped Moravian to a 3-0 record including the team's third Landmark Conference Championship with a 5-4 win over The University of Scranton on Saturday.  She was 2-1 in singles action at second singles, and McKinley won the conference title match versus Scranton in a three-set victory for the deciding point.  In doubles action, McKinley moved to first doubles with week with sophomore Chelsea Ott (Allentown, PA/Dieruff HS), and the duo earned three wins.  McKinley is seventh in school history with 52 career wins, and she moved into second in doubles victories with 47 wins.

The Greyhounds, 10-6 overall and 5-1 in Landmark Conference play, will return to action on Friday, May 13th in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament at a site versus an opponent to be announced on Monday, May 9th.  For Moravian, it will be the program’s second NCAA Tournament appearance in five years.
