MORAVIAN’S KYLE LONGERNECKER HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, N.J. --- Junior pitcher Kyle Longernecker (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week.

Longernecker helped Moravian post a 5-0 record last week with a win and two saves in three appearances.  Longernecker allowed four hits and struck out four batters in 4 1/3 innings with saves against DeSales University and Catholic University, and he also earned his second victory of the season at Catholic in the first game of the series to help clinch the top seed in the postseason.

The Greyhounds, 30-7 overall and 17-1 in Landmark Conference action, are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, May 7th in the 2011 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament at Gillespie Field.  For the second straight season, Moravian is the top seed in the tournament and will opened the double-elimination tournament with a game versus Fourth seeded Susquehanna University on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
