THREE GREYHOUNDS NAMED TO 2011 LANDMARK WOMEN’S TENNIS ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS;
Chelsea Ott Named Player of the Year

MADISON, NJ --- The Moravian College women’s tennis team has had three student-athletes earn spots on the 2011 Landmark All-Conference Teams with sophomore Cheslea Ott (Whitehall, PA/William Allen HS) being named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and earning spots on the Landmark All-Conference First Team as a singles and doubles player.

Ott, pictured at right, earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors in doubles with freshman Katie Zien (West Suffield, CT/Suffield HS).  Senior Kerry McKinley (Sparta, NJ/Pope John XXIII HS) also earned Landmark All-Conference First Team accolades in singles.

The Landmark All-Conference Teams were selected by the conference’s seven head coaches.  The teams consist of six singles players and three doubles pairings per team.

Moravian head coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the 17th straight season after leading the Greyhounds to a 10-6 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the Landmark Conference as the Greyhounds played in their fourth straight Landmark Conference Championship match.  Ketterman-Benner, who has a career mark of 259-101, has led Moravian to the conference championship match in each of the last 17 years, and the program has won 11 conference titles including the 2011 Landmark Conference title to earn the program’s second berth to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament which begins on Friday, May 13th.

Ott, who was the 2010 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year while being on the All-Conference First Team in singles and doubles, has a 13-1 record at first singles this season.  In two seasons, Ott has a 33-3 career record in singles action for the Greyhounds after tying the school record as a freshman with 20 singles victories.

In doubles action, Ott and Zien combined for a 6-2 record.  The duo was 5-1 at second doubles, and the tandem was 4-1 during the Landmark Conference regular season. Zien, pictured at left, has a 10-9 singles record in her debut season at Moravian.

McKinley, who was the 2008 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and was on the 2009 Landmark All-Conference First Team in singles and 2010 Landmark Conference Second Team in doubles, has a 10-10 singles record this season.  McKinley, pictured at right, won the Landmark Conference Championship match versus The University of Scranton with a three-set win at second singles to clinch the championship point.  In her career, McKinley has a 52-27 record in singles action, seventh in school history in wins, and she is 47-29 in doubles action, the second highest victory total in school history.
