NINE GREYHOUND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Nine members of the nationally-ranked Moravian College softball team are ranked in the sixth NCAA Division III Baseball Statistics Ranking of the 2011 season released this week for games through May 1st, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in four team categories.

Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) is ranked in five categories including being 21st in the nation in earned run average at 1.26.  Carmon is also tied for 44th in shutouts with five, tied for 32nd in saves with two, 38th in hits allowed per seven innings at 5.52 and 62nd in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.40.

Senior Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) is also tied for 44th with five shutouts, and she is tied for 92nd with 12 victories while sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, PA/Brandwine Heights HS) is tied for 67th in the country in shutouts with four.

Sophomore infielder Shannen Mohr (Slatington, PA/Parkland HS) is 45th in the country in batting average at .463, and she is 12th in on-base percentage at .577 and tied for 75th in walks per game at 0.55.

Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona HS) is tied for 51st in the nation in hit by pitch at 0.19.  Ernst has been six by five pitches in 31 games this spring.  She is also 26th in the country with a .550 on-base percentage.

Freshman outfielder/catcher Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) is tied for 45th in the country with four triples this season while sophomore first baseman Amanda Dizinno (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive HS) is tied for 31st in toughest to strikeout with just two strikeouts in 79 at-bats this spring.

Freshman outfielder Miranda Sergas (Lansdale, PA/North Penn HS) is tied for 49th in the country with three sacrifice flies this season, and she is tied for 81st in toughest to strikeout with one strikeout every 26 at-bats while senior outfielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA/Easton HS) is tied for 17th with four sacrifice flies.

The Greyhounds are ranked 12th in the nation in team earned run average at 1.50, and Moravian is 16th in the country in won-loss percentage at .842, 41st in scoring at 6.82 runs per game and 41st in fielding percentage at .962.

Moravian, which is ranked 23rd in the country with a 32-6 overall record and an 11-1 mark in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to the field on Friday, May 6th when the squad hosts the 2011 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament at Blue & Grey Field.  The top seeded Greyhounds will play fourth see The University of Scranton on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the opening game of the tournament.
