MORAVIAN TRACK & FIELD TEAMS DROP IN FIFTH NCAA DIVISION III OUTDOOR REGIONAL TEAM INDEX

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men’s & women’s track & field teams are both ranked in the Mideast Region in the fifth NCAA Division III Regional Team Index of the 2011 outdoor season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday with the Moravian women slipping to second in the region while the men fell to third.

The Greyhound women have a total of 281.44 points, and Moravian fell to second after four weeks in the top position in the region.  Johns Hopkins University moved into first this week with 306.58 points while Washington & Jefferson College moved into third at 221.72.

The Greyhound men have a total of 243.74 points, and Moravian was tenth in the first ranking before moving up to second for the last three weeks.  Haverford leads the Mideast Region with 354.38 points while Dickinson College moved into second with 289.38 points.

The scoring system for the teams shall be the sum of two factors measured per individual/relay performance on the national descending-order lists: place on the descending order list and a weighed value of the individual/relay performance based on the field (“bonus”).  Complete information and the polls can also be found at http://www.ustfccca.org/rankings/division-iii-rankings.

Moravian will return to action on Thursday and Friday, May 19th and 20th when the school hosts the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track.
