NINE GREYHOUND SOFTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Nine members of the nationally-ranked Moravian College softball team are ranked in the sixth NCAA Division III Baseball Statistics Ranking of the 2011 season released this week for games through May 8th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in four team categories.

Junior pitcher/designated player Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) is ranked in five categories including being 27th in the nation in earned run average at 1.42.  Carmon is also tied for 49th in shutouts with five, tied for 35th in saves with two, 54th in hits allowed per seven innings at 5.75 and 92nd in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.54.

Senior Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) is tied for 28th with five shutouts, and she is tied for 61st with 14 victories while sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, PA/Brandwine Heights HS) is tied for 76th in the country in shutouts with four.

Sophomore infielder Shannen Mohr (Slatington, PA/Parkland HS) is 35th in the country in batting average at .475, and she is eighth in on-base percentage at .600 and 22nd in walks per game at 0.67.

Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona HS) is tied for 75th in the nation in hit by pitch at 0.17.  Ernst has been hit by six pitches in 35 games this spring.  She is also 16th in the country with a .565 on-base percentage and tied for 76th in batting average at .444.

Freshman outfielder/catcher Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) is tied for 29th in the country with five triples this season, and she is tied for 41st in triples per game at 0.13 while sophomore first baseman Amanda Dizinno (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive HS) is tied for 24th in toughest to strikeout with just two strikeouts in 90 at-bats this spring.

Freshman outfielder Miranda Sergas (Lansdale, PA/North Penn HS) is tied for 54th in the country with three sacrifice flies this season while senior outfielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA/Easton HS) is tied for 18th with four sacrifice flies.

The Greyhounds are ranked tenth in the nation in team earned run average at 1.46, and Moravian is tied for 16th in the country in won-loss percentage at .833, 43rd in scoring at 6.71 runs per game and 26th in fielding percentage at .965.

Moravian, which tied for 21st in the country with a 35-7 overall record and an 11-1 mark in Landmark Conference action, is scheduled to return to the field on Friday, May 13th when the squad opens the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament in a First Round game versus The College of Staten Island in the SUNY Cortland Regional at 12:00 p.m.
