TWO MORAVIAN MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Two student-athletes from the Moravian College men’s basketball team are ranked in the sixth NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Statistics Ranking of the 2010-11 season through games of January 30th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in one team category.

Sophomore guard D.J. Strayhorn (Swiftwater, PA/Pocono Mountain East HS) is tied for 38th in the nation in assists per contest at 5.2 with 104 assists in his first season with the Greyhounds, and Strayhorn, pictured at right, is tied for 76th in the country in steals with an average of 2.2 with 44 steals in 20 games.  Strayhorn’s 104 assists mark the first time a Moravian player has surpassed 100 assists in a season since the 2003-04 season.

Sophomore center Blake English (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Township HS) is 40th in the nation in blocked shots per game with an average of 2.1.  English, pictured at left, has blocked 38 shots this year despite missing two games due to an injury.

The Greyhounds are 50th in the country in steals per game with an average of 9.6 after totaling 191 steals this winter.

Moravian is 9-11 overall and 3-6 in Landmark Conference action, and the Greyhounds will return to action on Friday, February 4th in a Landmark Conference game versus The Catholic University of America with tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
