MORAVIAN’S CADEE ROCKWELL & ABIGAIL SCHAFFER HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, N.J. --- Junior distance runner Cadee Rockwell (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) of the Moravian College women’s track & field team has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week while junior pole vaulter Abigail Schaffer (Easton, PA/Easton HS) earned Field Athlete of the Week honors for their performances last week.

Rockwell, who earns the award for a second straight week, was one of two event winners at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Tri-Meet.  Rockwell, pictured at right, won the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 17:46.42.  The Greyhound women were third at the meet of regionally-ranked teams.

Schaffer captured the pole vault with an NCAA Division III automatic and ECAC qualifying height of 4.05 meters (13 feet, 3 1/2 inches), the second woman in school history to clear four meters.  Schaffer is just the third woman to clear four meters in NCAA Division III history joining former Greyhound Anna Heim ’11, who owns the NCAA record at 4.16 meters (13 feet, 7 ¾ inches) and Rachel Secrest from North Central College, who cleared 4.02 meters in 2010.

Moravian’s track & field teams will return to action on Friday, February 11th when they travel to The New York City Armory for the Lafayette College-Rider University Games.
