TWO MORAVIAN CROSS COUNTRY STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO USTFCCCA DIVISION III ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- Two members of the Moravian College cross country teams have been named to the 2010 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Cross Country Teams.

On the men’s side, junior Matthew Lutcza (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley HS) is one of 142 student-athletes from 80 NCAA Division III institutions to win the award.  On the women’s side, junior Cadee Rockwell (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) is one of 170 student-athletes from 82 schools.  The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the cross country.  To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the most recent semester and have placed in the top 25 at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Lutcza, pictured at left, earned the Landmark Conference Men’s Cross Country Outstanding Performer after winning the Landmark Cross Country Championship. He also earned All-Region honors with a 21st-place finish at the NCAA Regional and qualified for the NCAA Championships. Lutcza is studying computer science and he is a four-time member of the Dean’s List and on the Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic Team for a second straight year.

Rockwell was a first-team All-Conference honoree by placing third at the Landmark Championships, then earned All-Region honors with a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Regionals and qualified for the NCAA Championships. Rockwell, pictured at right, is studying psychology and studio art and is a three-time Dean’s List honoree, and she earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic Team.
