MORAVIAN’S CADEE ROCKWELL & MICAH LEONARD HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, N.J. --- Junior distance runner Cadee Rockwell (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) of the Moravian College women’s track & field team has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week while sophomore jumper Micah Leonard (York, PA/William Penn HS) earned Landmark Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

The duo helped Moravian win the 2011 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Susquehanna University.  The title was the fourth straight Landmark championship for the Greyhounds, and the program’s fifth consecutive indoor conference title.

Rockwell, who earns the award for the fourth time this season, was named the Female Track Athlete of the Year.  Rockwell, pictured at top right, won the mile run in a meet record and ECAC qualifying time of 5:09.67, and she captured the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 18:12.70.

Leonard, who was honored as the Field Athlete of the Wee for the fourth time as well this winter, was named the Female Field Athlete of the Year.  Leonard, pictured at left, captured the triple jump with a meet record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 11.47 meters (37 feet, 7 3/4 inches), and she won the long jump with a meet record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying leap of 5.58 meters (18 feet, 3 3/4 inches). Leonard was also third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.10 seconds.

Moravian’s track & field teams will return to action on Friday and Saturday, March 4th & 5th at the 2011 ECAC Division III Indoor Championships at the New York City Armory.
