GREYHOUNDS SWEEP MAC TITLES FOR 6TH STRAIGHT YEAR

CENTER VALLEY, PA --- For a record sixth straight year, the Moravian College men’s and women’s cross country teams captured the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League titles at Allentown College Saturday.

On the women’s side, senior Kristie Reccek (Hellertown/Wilson HS) was the fifth straight individual winner for the Lady Greyhounds with a time of 19:11.6 over the 5,000-meter course. Moravian’s Tara Wartman won the title in 1996 and 1997 while her sister Tracy Wartman was the individual winner in 1994 and 1995.

Moravian had three other top five finishers in freshman Emily Shertzer (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin HS) was second in 19:17.4, freshman Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) in third with a time of 19:20.3 and sophomore Hannah Wood (Palm/Upper Perkiomen HS) at fifth in 19:54.6.

On the men’s side, senior Jeff Minnich (Lehighton/Palmerton Area HS) was the top Greyhound with a second place finisher in a time of 26:47.3. Three other Moravian runners finished in the top ten with junior Tim Pfluger (Slatington/Northern Lehigh HS) in fourth at 27:30.0, junior Dylan Coia (Glen Rock, NJ/Notre Dame HS) at ninth with a time of 27:56.0 and senior Chris Lowthert (Auburn/Pottsville HS) in tenth at 27:59.7.
