RICKARDS, SANDT & KRAMER NAMED MAC VOLLEYBALL ALL-STARS

SORENSEN-BAUDER EARNS COACH OF THE YEAR HONORS

ANNVILLE, PA --- Senior Stephanie Rickards (Lansdowne/Upper Darby HS) and juniors Amy Sandt (Allentown/William Allen HS) and Kaitie Kramer (Bethlehem/ Bethlehem Catholic HS) of the Moravian College women’s volleyball team have been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League All-Star teams. Rickards was named to the first team for the second straight year while Sandt and Kramer were on the second team. Head coach Shelley Sorensen-Bauder was also named the MAC Commonwealth League Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season.

Rickards, a middle blocker, led the Lady Greyhounds to a 27-7 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second straight year. She paced Moravian with a school-record 468 kills, 125 blocks and a .368 hitting percentage. Rickards, who also played basketball at the Bethlehem school, also had 276 digs and 38 service aces this fall.

Sandt, an outside hitter, and Kramer, the squad’s setter, were both named to the MAC Commonwealth League All-Star First Team in 1997. Sandt was Moravian’s leader in digs and service aces this year with 486 and 67 respectively. She also had 417 kills and a .289 hitting percentage. Kramer ran the Moravian offense with an average of 20.55 assists per game. She also had 274 digs, 55 service aces, 113 kills and a .310 hitting percentage.

Sorensen-Bauder, who was the American Volleyball Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in 1997, has guided the Lady Greyhounds to a 76-18 overall record, three MAC playoff berths and the schools first two NCAA Tournament appearances over the last three seasons. In her six year’s at Moravian, Sorensen-Bauder has a 121-71 record.
