POLLARD NAMED REGIONAL WOMEN’S TRACK COACH OF THE YEAR

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College women’s track and field coach Doug Pollard has been named the NCAA Division III Mid-East Region Women’s Track and Field Coach of the Year as selected by all NCAA Division III coaches in the Mid-East Region.

This past spring, Pollard led the Lady Greyhounds to their seventh straight Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Three members of the squad went on to compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH. Senior Kristie Reccek (Hellertown/Wilson HS) earned All-America honors at the meet with an eighth place finish in the 3,000 meters.

Pollard, who also coaches the men’s team at Moravian, has had 101 student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships since the track programs were re-established in 1984 at Moravian. Pollard’s track and field teams have had three top ten team finishes at the national meet, two by the men’s program and one by the women’s squad, and four individuals have also captured national championships. Pollard has also led the Greyhounds to nine MAC Outdoor Track and Field titles in the same time span including the seven consecutive by the women’s program.
