BYRNE NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF BLUE & GREY CLUB

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College has announced that John Byrne, head softball coach for the Lady Greyhounds, has had Assistant to the Director of Athletics and Executive Director of the Blue & Grey Club added to his duties.

As part of his new responsibilities, Byrne will be in charge of fundraising for the athletic department through the school’s booster club, the Blue & Grey Club. Byrne will develop and implement a strategic plan for achieving Moravian’s fund raising goals for short term and long term needs. He will also be in charge of expanding the membership of the Blue & Grey Club as well as identifying prospective donors. Byrne will assist in the management of all fund raising activities including the school’s golf tournaments and Hall of Fame Dinner.

Byrne has been head softball coach at Moravian for the past five years and has led the Lady Greyhounds to a 140-53 record, three Middle Atlantic Conference playoff appearances, two MAC Commonwealth League titles and a berth in the 1998 NCAA Division III National Championships.

A 1982 graduate of Moravian with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Management, Byrne served as Athletic Recruiting Coordinator from 1985 to 1998. Byrne, who started four years for the Greyhound baseball squad, was assistant baseball coach from 1983 to 1992 and was the Lady Greyhound volleyball coach in 1988, leading the team to a then school record 25 victories. Byrne also works as an associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds Organization.
