MORAVIANS COUGHLIN SCORES 1,000TH POINT
BETHLEHEM, PA --- On a three-pointer with nine minutes left in the first half of 75-59
lost to Elizabethtown College, Moravian College senior Jessie Coughlin (Bethlehem/ Bethlehem
Catholic HS) became the 12th player in Lady Greyhound history to surpass
the 1,000-point plateau.
Coughlin, who entered the game needing just one point, took the three-pointer from the
top of the key, which bounced off two sides of the rim before it fell through.
The two-time Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League All-Star and team MVP has
played in 90 games during her career with 1,017 points, 321 rebounds, 316 assists and 289
steals. Only one other player in Moravian history, Sue Zimmerman 96, has scored
1,000 points and added 300 assists and 300 steals in a career.
Coughlin, a 5-6 guard, has led Moravian to a 9-6 record this season and a 52-38 record
in four seasons. Moravian is trying to extend its MAC playoff appearance streak to 17 this
winter.
Coughlin is also a standout tennis player at Moravian. She completed her career this past
fall with the best winning percentage in school history, .969, on a 62-2 record in second
singles. The Lady Greyhound tennis team captured the MAC title the last three years and
has a 30-match winning streak entering 1999.
