MORAVIAN’S KETTERMAN-BENNER TO COACH USTA TEAM

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Dawn Ketterman-Benner, the head women’s tennis coach at Moravian College and the 1998-99 United States Tennis Association/Middle State Eastern Pennsylvania District Coach of the Year, has been selected to coach the Middle States Girl’s 18 Intersectional Team at the USTA Team Championships at the Marin Tennis Club in San Rafael, California from August 3-6.

The USTA Team Championships is a "compass draw" team tournament, with five singles and two doubles matches determining the winning team in each round. The results of all matches will be included in the data for the Girls’ 18 National ranking.

While coaching the team, Ketterman-Benner’s duties will include conducting a team orientation meeting for the players and their parents, practicing with the team, coaching during the matches and acting as a positive liaison between players, coaches and the USTA/MS endorsing committee and section office.

Ketterman-Benner, Moravian’s senior women’s administrator in the athletic department, will begin her 13th season as women’s tennis coach on August 24th with her team’s preseason camp. The Lady Greyhounds have captured the last three Middle Atlantic Conference Team titles and have a current 30-match winning streak entering the season. Ketterman-Benner has guided the women’s tennis program to 94 victories in 12 seasons including last season’s perfect 16-0 record.

Ketterman-Benner is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and is a member of the ESU Hall of Fame. She has a master’s degree from Temple University. Ketterman-Benner is a full professor at Moravian and chair of the physical education department at the College. Besides tennis, Ketterman-Benner has also coached volleyball, archery, badminton and field hockey at Moravian.
