LADY GREYHOUND CROSS COUNTRY DROP TO 15TH IN NATION

BETHELHEM, PA --- Despite a first place finish at the Dickinson College Invitational this past Saturday, the Moravian College women’s cross country team dropped to 15th in the nation in the latest NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country National Rankings released on Tuesday. Moravian is the top ranked team in the Mideast Region.

The Lady Greyhounds, who opened the season with a sixth place finish at the Kutztown University Maroon & Gold Invitational and followed with a second place showing at the Lafayette Invitational and the championship of the Muhlenberg College Invitational, were ranked 19th in the preseason poll. Moravian then fell to 23rd in the first regular season poll of the year before jumping to eighth place for two weeks. The Lady Greyhounds, who finished second at the Frostburg State (MD) Invitational two weeks ago, were ninth last week.

Leading the Lady Greyhounds this season are sophomore Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/ Riverside HS) and Emily Shertzer (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin HS). Wolfsberger won first place at the Lafayette Invitational while Shertzer won the Muhlenberg Invitational. Rounding out the top six for Moravian are junior Hannah Wood (Palm/Upper Perkiomen HS), senior Maria Grabowski (Churchville/Villa Joseph Marie HS) and sophomores Kim Jaick (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh HS) and Erin Boyle (Philadelphia/ Nazareth Academy). Shertzer, Wolfsberger, Wood and Jaick all placed in the top 15 at the Frostburg State Invitational.

Moravian will return to action on Sunday, October 17th at the Allentown College Invitational.
