WOLFSBERGER, WILL-WEBER RECEIVE REGIONAL ACCOLADES

OSHKOSH, WI --- Moravian College sophomore distance runner Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) and head men’s and women’s indoor track and field coach Mark Will-Weber have been named the 2000 NCAA Division III Mideast Region Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete and Women’s Coach of the Year by the United States Track Coaches Association and Mondo Surfacing.

Wolfsberger was selected as the top female athlete in Mideast Region, one of seven NCAA Division III women’s track and field regions, while Will-Weber was named the top women’s coach in the Mideast Region.

Wolfsberger captured All-American honors last weekend by placing second in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University last weekend. Wolfsberger broke her own school record in the finals with a time of 4:36.86 and was under two seconds shy of the national champion in the event, Heather Stone from the University of the South. She was also named the Most Outstanding Athlete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on February 26th by setting a MAC record for women with four gold medals as she won the 800 and 1,500 meters and was part of the winning distance medley and 3,200-meter relay teams.

Will-Weber, a graduate of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, is in his 13th season as head coach of the Lady Greyhounds and has led the squad to five straight MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Will-Weber, who is also the men’s and women’s cross country coach at Moravian, has led the women’s cross country squad to a MAC record seven straight championships.
