PFLUGER & WOLFSBERGER TO COMPETE AT NCAA MEET

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Tim Pfluger (Slatington/Northern Lehigh HS) and sophomore Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) of the Moravian College men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams will be competing at the 2000 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships this weekend at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Pfluger, who had provisionally qualified in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:55.4, was 15th on the performance list as of Sunday evening but when the qualifiers for the national championships were released Monday evening, Pfluger was the 11th of 12 qualifiers. Pfluger becomes the first male track athlete at Moravian to compete in the national championships since 1994. Pfluger’s preliminary race is slated for 5:15 p.m. on Friday, March 10th and the championship race, which the top eight runners qualify for, is at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 11th.

Wolfsberger will also be competing in the 1,500 meters at the national championships for the second time in her career. Wolfsberger’s qualifying time of 4:41.3 ranks her eighth of the 12 student-athletes in the championship meet. Wolfsberger will compete in the preliminary at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and the top eight advance to Saturday’s championship race at 2:00 p.m. Last spring, Wolfsberger advanced to the finals of the 1,500 meters at the outdoor national championship meet.
