STROUP NAMED MAC COMMONWEALTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA --- Senior pitcher Becky Stroup (Palmerton/Palmerton Area HS) from the Moravian College softball team has been named the MAC Commonwealth Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performance last week.

Stroup led the Greyhounds to a 3-0 record at the 2000 East Coast College Fastpitch Classic in Salem, Virginia last weekend. Stroup hurled all nine innings in a 4-3 victory over Bridgewater College (VA). She allowed six hits and four walks to go along with three strikeouts in the win. Stroup then tossed her second shutout of the season in a 1-0 triumph over Methodist College (NC). In that contest, Stroup scattered two hits while walking three and striking out three.

On the season, Stroup is 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 40 innings of action. Moravian is 8-3 on the season as a team and is scheduled to open its 2000 MAC Commonwealth Conference season at Lebanon Valley College today at 2:30 p.m.
