Last Week –Defeated Muhlenberg College, 8-0 (five innings) & 6-2; Defeated #FDU-Florham, 9-0 (five innings) & 5-4.  #MASCAC game.

This Week – Tues., Mar. 29th at #Wilkes University (DH), 2:30 p.m.; Sat., Apr. 2nd vs. *Elizabethtown College (DH), 1:00 p.m.  *Commonwealth Conference game, #MASCAC game

Moravian, ranked second in the nation, swept a non-conference doubleheader from rival Muhlenberg College, 8-0 in five innings and 6-2, at Blue & Grey Field. Junior All-American pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) tossed her second career no-hitter to defeat Muhlenberg in the first game of the doubleheader. Hennessy, who faced two batters over the minimum, struck out eight batters and allowed just two batters to reach base on errors in the first two innings. Hennessy would get all the offense she would need in the bottom of the second inning when junior designated player Richelle McWilliams (Riegelsville, PA/Easton HS) hit a two-run home run to center field that scored sophomore first baseman Lauren Homa (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West HS), who had reached on an error. The homer was McWilliam's second of the season and her seventh career home run. Moravian extended its lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning when Homa hit an RBI single to score senior shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS). The Greyhounds would push five runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning to institute the NCAA's eight-run rule. Senior outfielder Krissy Cianfichi (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks East HS) had an RBI single to score freshman pinch runner Megan Ritchey (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown HS) before Bortz tripled to right center field to empty the bases with three RBIs. Bortz scored the final run of the game on a wild pitch. Moravian pounded out ten hits in the game with Bortz, McWilliams and sophomore catcher Danielle Carrione (Bloomfield, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic HS) each collecting two hits.

The Greyhounds completed the doubleheader Muhlenberg a 6-2 victory in the second game. Moravian jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a two-RBI triple by Homa that scored Bortz and freshman outfielder Beth Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS). Homa would cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by McWilliams. The Greyhounds would extend their lead to 4-0 in the second inning with Bortz hit an RBI single to score sophomore outfielder LeeAnna Roberts (Meshoppen, PA/Elk Lake HS). Moravian added another run in the third inning for a 5-0 lead when Roberts had an RBI single to score Homa. The Mules scored their first run of the doubleheader in the top of the fourth inning. The Greyhounds responded with a run in the bottom half of the fourth inning when an RBI ground out by senior second baseman Leah Holmes (Clarks Green, PA/Abington Heights HS) scored Cianfichi. Muhlenberg would get an unearned run in the top of the seventh inning to finish off the scoring. Moravian had nine hits in the game with Bortz going three-for-four and Homa and Roberts each collecting two hits. Hennessy earned her second win of the day and her seventh of the season in the circle for Moravian. Hennessy allowed just two runs, only one earned, on five hits and five walks while striking out five batters.

Moravian extended its winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of FDU-Florham, 9-0 in five innings and 5-4, in non-conference action at Blue & Grey Field. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning of the first game when McWilliams connected on a solo home run to left-center field, her third home run of the season and the eighth of her Moravian career. Moravian would push four runs across the plate in the bottom of the third inning. Homa drove in a pair of runs with a two-RBI double that scored Cianfichi and Bortz. McWilliams would add a two-RBI double in the inning as well, scoring Homa and Carrione. The Greyhounds added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to institute the NCAA's eight-run rule. Bortz scored the first run off the inning on an error before Homa hit a three-run home run, her first homer of the season, to score Carrione and Paly. Moravian had seven hits in the game with Bortz, Homa and McWilliams each having two hits. Hennessy improved to 8-2 in the circle with her fifth shutout and fourth one-hitter of the season. The shut out was Hennessy's 24th of her career, breaking Amy Croll's record of 23 set from 1994 to 1997. Hennessy struck out nine batters while allowing just one hit, one walk and one hit batter in the victory.

Moravian jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning of the second game on a three-run home run by Homa that scored Bortz and Paly. The homer was Homa's second of the doubleheader and her second of the season. The Greyhounds extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run by freshman first baseman Katie Uhas (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts HS), her first collegiate homer. Moravian would take a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by senior outfielder Stephanie Eddinger (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) that scored freshman outfielder Justina Black (Orefield, PA/Parkland HS). Moravian had nine hits in the game with two by Uhas and Eddinger. The Devils would score all four of their runs in the top of the seventh inning. Ritchey improved to 4-0 on the mound for the Greyhounds, allowing four runs on six hits, with three walks and eight strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Hennessy allowed one hit while coming one to get the final out of the game and her second save of the season.
