Moravian opened its 2005 Commonwealth Conference
season with a doubleheader sweep of Albright College, 5-2 & 3-0, including
another no-hitter by Greyhound junior pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) at Blue &
Grey Field. The Greyhounds scored all five of their runs in the first game in
the bottom of the fifth inning. Junior catcher Danielle Carrione (Bloomfield,
NJ/Mt. St. Dominic HS)
drew a bases loaded walk to score sophomore outfielder LeeAnna Roberts (Meshoppen,
PA/Elk
Lake HS).
Sophomore first baseman Lauren Homa (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West HS) followed with
a sacrifice fly to score senior outfielder Krissy Cianfichi (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks East HS).
Junior designated player Richelle McWilliams
(Riegelsville, PA/Easton HS) connected on a two-RBI double to score senior
shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown,
PA/Parkland HS) and Carrione while McWilliams
scored the final run of the inning on an RBI single by sophomore outfielder Justina Black (Orefield, PA/Parkland HS). Albright scored twice in the top of the sixth
inning. Moravian had just six hits in
the game with two by Bortz. Hennessy
improved to 11-2 in the circle with the victory, and she allowed two runs on
seven hits and a walk while striking out eight batters.
Hennessy
tossed her third no-hitter of the in the second game. Hennessy, who has a no-hitter in three of the last four
doubleheaders for the Greyhounds, allowed just three walks and a hit batter
while striking out seven batters. The shutout was Hennessy's 26th of her career and seventh of the season. She is now
12-2 overall this spring and has extended her career strike out total to 459.
The win was also the 50th of Hennessy's
career at Moravian, and she has a career mark of 50-12. The victory also gave Moravian its fifth
straight doubleheader sweep and extended the team's winning streak to ten
games. The Greyhounds have also won 18 straight Commonwealth Conference regular
season games dating back to 2003.
Moravian would give Hennessy
all the offense she needed in the bottom of the first inning when Bortz scored on an Albright error. The Greyhounds added a single run in the
fifth inning for a 2-0 lead on another Albright error with Bortz scoring after hitting a triple with two outs. Moravian scored the final run of the game in
the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Cianfichi that scored freshman
third baseman Kelly Santry
(Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland HS). The Greyhounds had just five hits in the
contest including a double by McWilliams.
Moravian extended its winning streak to 12 straight
games by sweeping its sixth consecutive doubleheader, defeating Franklin & Marshall
College, 4-1 and 12-3 in
five innings, in non-conference action.
The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the
first game when Carrione tripled with one out and scored on a
sacrifice fly by freshman second baseman Beth
Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS). Moravian
extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning on an RBI triple by Homa that scored Paly and an RBI ground out by McWilliams that scored Homa. The
Greyhounds scored their final run of the game in the top of the sixth inning on
an RBI ground out by freshman pinch hitter Katie
Uhas (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts HS) that
scored senior outfielder Stephanie
Eddinger (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS), who had tripled to lead off the
inning. Franklin & Marshall scored its lone run of the game in the bottom
of the sixth inning. Moravian had ten hits in the game with Eddinger getting two hits. Hennessy improved to 13-2 in the circle
with the victory. She allowed a run on four hits while striking out ten
batters.
Moravian jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the
first inning of the second game. Paly
drove in the first run with an RBI single that scored Bortz. Homa followed with an RBI single to score Carrione before McWilliams hit a two-RBI triple to
score Play and Homa. McWilliams would cross the plate on an RBI ground out by Black. Bortz would add an RBI single to score Eddinger while Carrione finished off the inning with an RBI single to score
Cianfichi.
The Diplomats would score two runs in the bottom of the first inning to cut the
Greyhounds lead to 7-2. However, Moravian got the two runs right back in the top
of the second inning on an Franklin & Marshall error that scored Homa and an RBI
double by freshman third baseman Kelly Santry (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland HS) that scored Black. The Diplomats scored their final
run of the game in the bottom of the second inning, cutting Moravian's lead to
9-3.The Greyhounds added three more runs in the top of the third inning. Homa connected
on a two-RBI triple to score Paly and Carrione while Black
had an RBI single to score Homa. Moravian finished the contest with 17 hits including
three each by Carrione,
Homa and McWilliams. Bortz and Paly
each had two hits. Roberts went the
distance in the circle for the Greyhounds, earning her first collegiate
victory. Roberts allowed three runs,
just two earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out two batters.
Moravian earned its seventh straight doubleheader
sweep and extended their winning streak to 14 straight games with a 7-0 win and
an 8-0, five-inning victory over Messiah
College in a Commonwealth
Conference doubleheader. Moravian also extended its Commonwealth Conference
regular season winning streak to 20 games dating back to the 2003 season. The
win also marked the 12th straight year that Moravian has won at least 20 games
and all 12 seasons have been under head coach John Byrne. The Greyhounds took a
1-0 lead in the top of the second inning in the first game when Black scored on a Falcon error. Black had led off the inning with a
double. Moravian scored three runs in the top of the third inning with Roberts hitting a two-RBI double to
score Homa and Black. Cianfichi followed with an RBI ground to the
scored Santry.
Moravian added single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh
inning. In the fifth inning, Santry connected on a solo home run to left field with one
out. It was Santry's
second homer of the season. In the sixth inning, Roberts drew a bases loaded walk for an RBI that scored Paly. In the
seventh inning, Paly
hit a sacrifice fly to score Bortz,
who had doubled to lead off the inning. Moravian had eight hits in the game
with Roberts and Santry each having two hits. Hennessy improved to 14-2 in the circle
with her eighth shutout of the season. Hennessy
allowed just one hit, her fifth one-hitter of the year, and one walk while
striking out eight batters.
Moravian got all the offense it would need in the

delivered a sacrifice fly to score Homa. The Greyhounds pushed three more runs across the plate
in the top of the fifth inning to institute the NCAA's
eight-run rule. Paly
connected an RBI single to score freshman outfielder Keri Traficante (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks
West HS). Uhas had a pinch hit, RBI single to score Carrione while sophomore pinch hitter Becky DeJulio (Vineland, NJ/Sacred
Heart HS) drove in the final run of the game with a bases loaded walk that
scored Homa.
Moravian had 15 hits in the game with Paly going 4-for-4. Bortz,
Carrione
and Black each had two hits in the
victory. Hennessy improved to 15-2
in the circle with her ninth shutout of the season and her 11th consecutive
victory. Hennessy allowed just two
hits and a walk while striking out two batters.

Moravian dropped a pair of games in a Commonwealth
Conference doubleheader at Lebanon Valley College,
9-0 and 10-9, at McGill
Park in Annville. In the
first game, the Flying Dutchmen scored all the runs they would
need in the bottom of the first inning when they took a 3-0 lead. Lebanon Valley would add three more runs in the
bottom of the second inning and single runs in the third, fourth and sixth
innings while collecting nine hits. Moravian had just five hits in the game,
singles by senior outfielders Chris
Clancy (Kendall Park, NJ/Bishop Ahr HS) and Mike Trimble (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem
Catholic HS), junior second baseman Andrew
Wayne (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough HS), sophomore shortstop Pete Moore (Bogota,
NJ/Bogota HS) and freshman outfielder Josh Baltz
(Easton, PA/Easton HS). Senior pitcher Steve
Tomaszewski (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) suffered the loss for
Moravian, allowing eight runs, six of them earned on six hits and five walks in
four innings of action. Tomaszewski
also struck out two batters in the game. Senior Adam Goetz (Dunellen, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS) tossed the final two innings for
Moravian, allowing a run on three hits.
The Greyhounds dropped the second game 10-9, after
rallying from a 6-1 deficit to take a 9-6 in the sixth inning. The Flying
Dutchmen took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Greyhounds
would cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by
Baltz that
scored Tomaszewski, who had been hit
by a pitch to start the inning. Lebanon
Valley would push three
more runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning for the 6-1 lead.
Moravian scored a runs in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI ground out by Trimble that scored Wayne,
who had walked to lead off the inning. Moravian would score seven times in the
top of the sixth inning to take a 9-6 lead. Freshman Brett Stout (Easton, PA/Easton HS) drove in the first run of the
inning after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score junior first
baseman Richie Cline (Union Beach,
NJ/Keyport HS), who had singled to start the rally. Sophomore catcher Colin Welles (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere HS) hit and
RBI ground out to score Baltz
before a two-RBI single by Trimble
that scored Clancy and Stout. Tomaszewski followed with a two-RBI double to score Moore and Trimble while Cline
finished off the rally with an RBI single to score Tomaszewski. However, the Flying Dutchmen scored three times in the
bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game. Lebanon Valley
would push the winning run across the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning
with two outs. Moravian had nine hits in the game with three by Cline and two each by Clancy and Tomaszewski. Clancy
suffered the loss on the mound for the Greyhounds, allowing ten runs, five of
them earned, on 12 hits and two walks. He also struck out three batters.
The Greyhounds split a Commonwealth Conference
doubleheader versus Messiah
College, winning the
first game 4-0 and losing the second contest 3-1, at Gillespie Field. Moravian won the opening game behind a strong
pitching performance from freshman Trevor
Lawrence Lansford, PA/Marian Catholic HS). Lawrence
tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout for his second win of the season. Lawrence
allowed just two walks while striking out one batter in the victory. Moravian
would give Lawrence all the offense he needed in the
bottom of the fourth inning when senior third baseman Chris Benigno (Howell, NJ/St. Rose HS)
hit a sacrifice fly to score Clancy,
who had doubled. Moravian would score three insurance runs in the bottom of the
sixth inning. Clancy connected on an
RBI double to score Trimble, and Clancy would score on an RBI double by Cline. Cline scored the final run on an RBI ground out by Benigno.
Moravian had seven hits in the game with three by Clancy and two from Cline.
The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of
the fourth inning of the second game. Moravian was able to cut the lead in half
in the bottom of the fifth inning on a bases loaded walk by Baltz that pushed Cline
across the plate. However, Messiah added an insurance run in the top of the
seventh inning for the victory. Moravian had just two hits in the game, singles
by Trimble and Benigno. Freshman Brandon Cohn (Newtown Square, PA/The
Shipley School) suffered the loss on the mound for Moravian, allowing two
runs on four hits and five walks in 4 2/3 innings of action. Cohn also had two strikeouts. Benigno tossed
the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing a run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Moravian dropped both games in a Commonwealth
Conference doubleheader at Elizabethtown
College, losing the first
game, 13-5, and falling, 4-0, in the second contest. The Blue Jays jumped out
to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of the first game, and Elizabethtown extended
the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning. Moravian would take the
lead in the top of the third inning with four runs, which all came with two
outs. Tomaszewski drew a bases
loaded walk to score Stout before Cline connected on a three-RBI double
to score Moore, Trimble and Tomaszewski.
The Blue Jays tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning, and Elizabethtown took
control of the contest with nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Moravian did score a run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Cline that scored Stout. Moravian had eight hits in the game with Cline and Trimble each collecting two hits. Tomaszewski suffered his third loss of the season on the mound for
Moravian. He allowed 13 runs, just six of them earned, on nine hits and nine
walks in 4 2/3 innings. Tomaszewski
did have four strikeouts in the game. Stout
tossed the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out two batters.
Moravian was limited to just two hits in the contest,
an infield single by Moore in the
fourth inning and a double by Clancy in
the fifth inning. The Blue Jays scored twice in the bottom of the first inning
and added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Clancy fell to 1-5 on the hill for the Greyhounds this season,
allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out two batters.
The Greyhounds suffered a 9-3 loss at Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference
action in the final contest of a three-game Commonwealth Conference series. The
Greyhounds were the home team in the contest because it was originally
scheduled to be played in Bethlehem
but was moved due to field conditions. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 1-0 lead
in the top of the first inning. Elizabethtown
added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth inning to build a 4-0 lead
before the Greyhounds got on the board. Moravian's first two runs came in the
bottom of the fifth inning on the first collegiate home run by Welles. Freshman
outfielder Daniel Edleman (Pottstown, PA/The Hill
School) scored on the
two-run homer after walking with one out. Elizabethtown
added two runs in the top of the seventh inning and three more in the top of
the eighth inning for a 9-2 lead. The Greyhounds scored the final run of the
game in the bottom of the eighth inning. Moore doubled to lead off the inning and
would score on a wild pitch. Moravian had six hits in the game with Welles
collecting two hits. Lawrence suffered his second loss of the season
for the Greyhounds, allowing six runs, just four earned, on 13 hits and four
walks in 6 2/3 innings. Lawrence did
strike out two batters. Benigno tossed the final 2 1/3 innings for the
Greyhounds. Benigno
allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one batter.

Moravian dropped a Middle Atlantic Conference match at Lycoming College, 16-8. The Warriors led 8-3 at
halftime. Junior attack Rebecca Schol (West Chester, PA/Henderson HS),
sophomore attack Lindsey Lustrino (Spring Lake, NJ/Manasquan
HS) and freshman midfielder Erica Spatz (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken HS) each scored two goals for Moravian
while junior midfielder Jessica Cordani
(Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS) had a goal and an assist.
Freshman attack Robyn Klem (Allentown, PA/Allentown
Central Catholic HS) also found the back of the cage once for the
Greyhounds. Sophomore goalie Jennifer Gassner (Manasquan,
NJ/Manasquan HS) made 12
saves for Moravian in the match. Gassner led
Moravian with eight ground balls while Spatz contributed five ground balls and five draw
controls. Schol and junior defender Lauren Johnston (Huntingdon
Valley, PA/Upper
Moreland HS) each added five ground balls for the Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds lost their second straight match, falling
to Gwynedd-Mercy College, 12-6, in non-conference action.
Moravian trailed 9-4 at halftime while
Gwynedd-Mercy had a 28-20 advantage in shots and a 36-20 edge in ground balls
in the game. Freshman attack Kellie Barnes (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown HS) scored four goals for Moravian while
Cordani had two goals. Junior
midfielder Kindal Estes (New Providence, NJ/New
Providence HS) had a team high five ground balls for Moravian while Johnston scooped up four ground balls. Gassner had 12
saves for the Greyhounds.

Moravian snapped a two-match losing streak with a 21-8
victory at Neumann
College in non-conference
action. The Greyhounds led 5-4 after the first quarter and extended their lead
to 13-6 at halftime. Moravian would out-score the Knights 5-1 in the third
quarter for an 18-7 lead, and Moravian tacked on three more goals in the final
15 minutes. Sophomore attack Daniel
Larson (Dover, DE/Dover HS) led the
Greyhounds with six goals, and he added an assist while sophomore attack Clint Quedenfeld (Chalfont, PA/Central
Bucks West HS) had a goal and ten assists to lead Moravian with 11 points
in the match. Freshman attack Scott
Jackson (Greenwood, DE/Sussex Tech HS) found the back of the cage
five times for Moravian while sophomore midfielder T.J. Hirsch (Lake Peekskill,
NY/Walter Panas HS) added
three goals. Sophomore midfielder Ken
Blom (Rochelle Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic HS) and sophomore attack Nick Cacciutti (Media, PA/The Haverford
School) each had two goals for the Greyhounds while freshman midfielder Shane Doucette (Merrick, NY/Calhoun HS)
and sophomore midfielder Tristan Flis
(Harleysville, PA/North Penn HS) each scored a goal. Moravian had a 50-26
advantage in shots and a 28-26 edge in ground balls. The Greyhounds also won 17
of 31 face-offs with Hirsch winning
11 of 14 face-offs. Hirsch also led
the Greyhounds with nine ground balls while Blom contributed five ground balls. Moravian freshman goalie Peter Coutros
(Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West HS) made 15 saves in the victory.
The Greyhounds suffered their fourth Middle Atlantic
Conference loss of the season, falling to Lycoming
College, 17-6, in MAC action at Moravian Academy's North Campus. Moravian jumped
out to a quick 1-0 lead but trailed 4-1 at the end of the first quarter and 8-2
at halftime. Lycoming would extend its lead to 13-4 after three quarters. The
Warriors had a 37-25 edge in shots and a 58-43 advantage in ground balls.
Lycoming also won 15 of 27 face-offs in the match. Quedenfeld led the Greyhounds with two goals and three assists
while Blom had two goals. Jackson netted a goal and an assist for
Moravian while Hirsch had a goal.
Moravian was playing without two of its starters due to injuries. Blom led Moravian with ten ground balls
while freshman midfielder Aaron
Satterfield (Mt. Arlington,
NJ/Pope John XXIII HS) had
seven ground balls. Hirsch added
five ground balls while winning 11 of 15 face-offs. Freshman defender Adam Melroy (Newtown, NJ/Pope
John XXIII HS) also had five ground balls for Moravian. Coutros posted ten saves and six ground balls in just over 50 minutes of
action while freshman keeper Peter Schenenman (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle HS) had three saves
in almost ten minutes for the Greyhounds.

Moravian won its fifth straight tournament, earning first
place honors at the Lebanon Valley College Spring Golf Tournament played at the
Lebanon Country Club with a team score of 330.
The Greyhounds won by four strokes over runner-up Dickinson College
in the 16-team tournament on the par 72 course. Sophomore Brian Bergstol (Mt. Bethel, PA/Bangor
HS) led Moravian with a round of 77, which was good enough for second
place. Freshman Bryan Ott (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS) tied for sixth with an 18-hole total of
81 while sophomore Thad Miller (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus HS)
and senior Todd Solecitto
(Washington, NJ/Warren Hills
Regional HS) tied for 29th of 77 golfers with rounds of 86. Junior Dustin McCormick
(East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg HS) rounded out the Greyhounds’
five-member team with a score of 91, which was tied for 50th.
Moravian placed third of 14 schools at the Elizabethtown
College Spring Invitational played at the Hershey Country Club with a team
score of 308. The Greyhounds were two strokes behind Gettysburg
College and Susquehanna University,
which tied for first with team totals of 306. Bergstol led Moravian with a round of 74 on the par 72 course,
which tied him for fourth of the 76 golfers. McCormick fired a round of 76 to tie for ninth place while Ott and Solecitto each had rounds of 79, which tied for 19th place.
Junior John Donofrio
(Easton, PA/Easton HS) round out
the Moravian five with an 18-hole total of 84 that was tied for 51st
place.
The Greyhounds were in ninth place of 15 teams at the
Mid-Atlantic Regional Invitational being hosted by the University of Rochester
at the Hershey Country Club. Moravian had a team score of 323, 19 shots off the
lead set by Allegheny
College. The tournament
has 15 of the top programs in the region and will help determine the field for
this year's NCAA Division III Championships.

match was at first singles where junior Neil
Caniga (Hampton,
NJ/Voorhees HS) dropped a
three-set match 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Greyhounds dropped their second straight Commonwealth
Conference match, losing at Elizabethtown
College, 6-1. The
Greyhounds' lone point came on a straight sets victory by senior Mike Helmuth (Bethlehem, PA/Harrisonburg {VA} HS)
in singles action.

After having two meets cancelled by weather, Moravian
finally had a chance to open its 2005 outdoor season, and the Greyhounds placed
second of nine NCAA Division II/III schools at the University of Delaware
Invitational. Moravian had 155.5 points while
Muhlenberg owned the top spot with 169 points. Moravian had five individual
winners at the meet. Senior Chelsea
Mullins (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe HS) captured first in the 10,000-meters
with a time of 38:16.60 while junior Lynsey Boggess (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy)
was first in the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters (five feet, three inches).
Junior Rebecca Moore (Easton, PA/Easton
HS) took first in the pole vault at a height of 2.90 meters (nine feet, 6
1/4 inches) while sophomore Kathleen McCarron (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) was first in the
long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters (17 feet, 5 1/2 inches). Sophomore Kelly Applegate (Easton,
PA/Wilson
HS) finished in the top spot in the shot put with a toss of 12.23 meters
(40 feet, 1 1/2 inches). Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team also placed first in
a time of 49.05 seconds while the Greyhounds' 4x400-meter relay team was sixth
at 4:33.71.
In track events, sophomore Erin Recker (Catasauqua,
PA/Catasauqua HS) took second
in both the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.38 seconds and the 200-meter dash
in 25.83 seconds. Senior Kirsten Rotzell (Bangor, PA/Bangor
HS) was third in the 100-meter at 12.97 and fifth in the 200-meters in
26.95 seconds. McCarron
placed seventh in the 100-meter dash in 13.38 seconds and eighth in the
200-meters at 27.69 seconds. Sophomore Suzanne
Tamlyn (Wappingers Falls, NY/Wallkill
HS) was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.47. Senior Kim Bushner (Allentown,
PA/Dieruff HS) placed third in the
10,000-meters with a time of 42:43.46 while freshman Katie Pulizzano (Allentown, PA/William
Allen HS) was fifth in 43:11.30. Senior Kellie Smith (Perkasie,
PA/Pennridge HS) took fifth
in both the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.32 and the 1,500 meters at
5:03.00. Senior Heather McGarvie (Medford, NJ/Shawnee HS) was sixth in the 1,500-meter run with a
time of 5:04.31 while freshman Krystyn
Fenon (Palmerton, PA/Lehighton HS) placed eighth in
5:10.64. Freshman Nicole Sirico (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley HS) took 25th in the 1,500
meters in 6:05.87 while sophomore Ashley
McCuen (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham HS) finished 18th in the 800-meter run
with a time of 2:49.82. Junior Lauren
Bahnatka (West Chester, PA/Henderson HS) took
second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:17.41 while junior Alexis Vergalla (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees
HS) placed third in 12:45.21.
In the hurdles, senior Margaret Benny (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua HS) was third in the 100-meter
hurdles with a time of 15.95 seconds while freshman Theresa Zataveski (Quakertown, PA/Gwynedd Mercy Academy) took tenth
at 17.73 second. Sophomore Amy Reehill (Roselle, NJ/Roselle
Catholic HS) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of
1:09.69 while Benny was fifth in
1:10.47. Moore finished ninth in the event with a
time of 1:23.58.
In other field events, freshman Jessica Cianci (Sussex, NJ/Vernon Township HS) was
sixth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.60 meters (eight feet, 6 1/4
inches). Rotzell
placed third in the long jump at 5.12 meters (16 feet, 9 3/4 inches) while
Zataveski took 14th at 4.19 meters (13 feet, nine inches. Senior Julie Anderson (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) was
third in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.19 meters (125 feet, 3 3/4 inches),
and she placed seventh in the discus with a distance of 31.04 meters (101 feet,
10 1/4 inches). Applegate placed
fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 31.53 meters (103 feet, 5 1/2 inches)
while freshman Tina Moll (Kintersville, PA/Palisades HS) finished third at 34.19 meters (112
feet, 2 1/4 inches). Moll was also
tenth in the shot put with a toss of 8.87 meters (29 feet, 1 1/4 inches).

Cortland owned the top spot with 147 points. The Greyhounds had two individual
winners with freshman Nathaniel Tussey (Perkiomenville, PA/Boyertown HS) capturing the
110-meter high hurdles in 15.22 seconds and freshman Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh
HS) placing first in the long jump with a leap of 6.86 meters (22 feet, 6
1/4 inches). Junior Michael El Kazzaz (Easton, PA/Easton HS) placed second in the pole
vault, clearing a height of 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5 1/4 inches) while freshman Nathaniel Dutile
(Plymouth, ME/Nokomis HS) took second in the shot put with a toss of 13.66
meters (44 feet, 9 3/4 inches). Moravian 4x100-meter relay team placed first
with a time of 42.60 seconds.
Moravian had five individuals earn third place honors
with Tussey
taking third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.01 seconds. Senior Scott Silvoy (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) was third in the 200-meter dash
in 22.46 seconds while sophomore Josh
Kline (Reading, PA/Exeter HS) took third
in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.39 seconds. Junior Greg Rarick (Drums, PA/Hazleton HS) was third in the 1,500-meter
run with a time of 4:07.16 while sophomore Michael
Ossont (Archbald,
PA/Lackawanna
HS) placed third in the javelin throw with a toss of 52.22 meters (171
feet, 4 1/4 inches). Rarick also ran
a time of 2:03.04 in the 800-meter run to place 11th.
In other track events, Silvoy was fifth in the 100-meter
dash in 11.37 seconds while Brown
placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 22.84 seconds. Kline ran a time of 23.23 seconds in the 200-meters, to place
tenth. Freshman James Bell (Mohnton, PA/Governor
Mifflin HS) was 11th in the 100-meter dash in 11.49 seconds and 14th in the
200-meter dash with a time of 23.51 seconds. Freshman Erik Nielsen (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown HS) took 22nd in the 100-meters in
12.03 seconds while senior Dan Corey (Fair Lawn, NJ/Glen
Rock HS) was 23rd in 12.11 seconds. Sophomore Matt Bailey (Reading,
PA/Reading HS) placed fifth
in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.83 seconds, and he was sixth in the
110-meter high hurdles in 16.44 seconds. Freshman Ty Kern Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin HS) was tenth in the
110-meter high hurdles at 16.83 seconds. Rarick
also ran a time of 2:03.04 in the 800-meter run to place 11th while junior William Shimer (Bethlehem,
PA/Liberty
HS) took fifth place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:41.81.
In other field events, Corey was ninth in the long jump at 5.79 meters (19 feet) while Nielsen placed 15th with a leap of 5.46
meters (17 feet, 11 inches). The duo also competed in the javelin throw with Nielsen placing tenth at 45.10 meters
(147 feet, 11 3/4 inches) and Corey
taking 13th at 38.17 meters (125 feet, three inches). Senior Shawn Nelson (Bethlehem,
PA/Bethlehem
Catholic HS) placed fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 40.77 meters
(133 feet, 9 1/2 inches) while sophomore Steve
Kondorossy (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery HS) took
seventh place with a distance of 37.44 meters (122 feet, 10 1/4 inches). Kondorossy was
also fifth in the discus with a toss of 39.50 meters (129 feet, 7 1/2 inches). Sophomore Patrick Callahan (Matawan,
NJ/Matawan HS) was tenth in the shot put with a toss of 11.87 meters (38
feet, 11 1/2 inches), and he placed tenth in the hammer throw with a distance
of 35.73 meters (117 feet, three inches). Freshman Robert Bernadyn (Mahanoy City, PA/Mahanoy
Area HS) took 11th in the hammer throw with a toss of 32.52 meters (106 feet,
8 1/2 inches), and he was 16th in the discus at 31.21 meters (102 feet, five
inches).
