Moravian swept a non-conference doubleheader from future
Landmark Conference opponent, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 7-0
and 1-0. The wins give the 12th-ranked
Greyhounds a four-game winning streak including the last three by shut
out. The two schools will begin
competing in the Landmark Conference next fall.
In the first game, sophomore Kristie
Pellicani (Sparta, NJ/Sparta HS) scatted
five hits and a walk while striking out seven batters to improve to 7-1 in the
circle for Moravian this season. Pellicani
would get all the offense she needed in the top of the first inning when
Moravian scored once. Sophomore shortstop Jordan
Oplinger (Allentown, PA/Parkland
HS) led off the game with a single and eventually scored on an RBI double
by sophomore first baseman Sheri Bieniek
(Lumberton, PA/Rancocas Valley HS). The Greyhounds added two
runs in the top of the third inning when sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth,
PA/Nazareth
HS) singled, stole second and scored on an error. Bieniek drove in the other run with an RBI single to score senior
outfielder Lauren Homa (Chalfont,
PA/Central Bucks West HS), who had reached on an error. Moravian scored
three times in the top of the fourth inning to build a 6-0 lead. Homa drove in all three runs with a bases loaded double that scored senior catcher Danielle Carrione
(Bloomfield, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic HS),
Klepeisz and Oplinger. Moravian scored its final run in the top of the sixth
inning when Klepeisz led off the
inning with a double and scored on a Mariner error. The Greyhounds had nine
hits in the game with two each by Bieniek,
Oplinger and Klepeisz.
Sophomore pitcher Marisa
DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) earned the victory in
the circle for Moravian in the second game, allowing six hits and a walk while
striking out eight batters to improve to 4-2 on the season with her third
shutout. The Greyhounds scored the only run of the game in the top of the fifth
inning when junior outfielder Megan
Ritchey (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown HS) doubled with one out
and scored on a wild pitch. Moravian had just four hits in the game with two by
Ritchey.
The ninth-ranked Greyhounds swept a Commonwealth
Conference doubleheader at Susquehanna
University, 3-1 and 8-5,
to run their winning streak to six straight games. Moravian did have its scoreless inning streak
stopped at 32 when Susquehanna took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth
inning of the first game. The Greyhounds would score three runs in the top of
the seventh inning for the victory. DeBonis
led off the inning with a single then freshman Katie Flood (Branchburg,
NJ/Somerville HS) came into
run for DeBonis. After a sacrifice
bunt by Ritchey, Pellicani singled. The Crusaders
recorded another out before sophomore pinch hitter Katie Agnew (Doylestown, PA/Lansdale Catholic HS)
reached on an error that allowed Flood
to score the tying run and Pellicani
to score the winning run. Klepeisz would
connected on an RBI double to score Agnew with an insurance run. Moravian
had just six hits in the game with Klepeisz
going two-for-four. Pellicani
improved to 8-1 in the circle, allowing a run on three hits and four walks with
three strikeouts. Kelly McHale suffered the loss for the Crusaders despite all
of the runs she allowed being unearned.
Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first
inning of the second game on an RBI double by junior second baseman Beth Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS) that
scored Klepeisz, who had walked to
lead off the game. Moravian added four runs in the top of the fifth inning for
a 5-0 lead. DeBonis drew a bases
loaded walk to drive in Homa, who
had started a two-out rally with a single. Junior third baseman Kelly Santry (Hatboro,
PA/Upper Moreland
HS) then hit a three-RBI double to clear the bases. The Greyhounds scored
what proved to be three insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning on a
three-RBI double by Bieniek that
cleared the bases again. Susquehanna scored five times in the bottom half of
the sixth inning to cut the Moravian lead to 8-5.
Moravian had eight hits in the game with Paly
and Santry each going two-for-four. DeBonis started in the circle for
Moravian and earned the win to improve to 5-2 this season. She allowed five
runs on four hits and five walks while striking out five batters in 5 1/3
innings. Pellicani tossed the final
1 2/3 innings, allowing just a walk for her first save of the season for
Moravian.

Moravian had its four-game winning streak snapped on
a two-out, walk off solo home run by Susquehanna
University in a 9-8 Commonwealth
Conference game. The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning
on an RBI single by senior shortstop Pete
Moore (Bogota, NJ/Bogota HS) that scored sophomore outfielder Eric Shea (Madison,
NJ/Morristown
Beard HS), who was hit by a pitch to lead off the game. The Crusaders
answered with three runs in the bottom of the first. The Crusaders extended
their lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the second and Susquehanna scored twice in
the bottom of the third inning to make the lead 7-1. Moravian got a run back in
the top of the fourth inning to cut the score to 7-2. Moore led off the inning
with a double, the 28th of his career which broke the previous school record,
and scored on a Susquehanna error after an infield single by sophomore
outfielder Joseph Durso
(Middletown, NJ/Christian Brother Academy).
The Greyhounds would get four unearned runs in the top of the fifth inning to
pull within a run at 7-6. Junior second baseman John Bisco (Easton, PA/Notre
Dame HS) doubled for Moravian with one out and eventually scored on an
error. Shea scored the second run of
the inning on a balk before Durso hit an RBI double to score Moore.
Durso
crossed the plate with the final run of the inning on an RBI single by senior
catcher Colin Welles (Belvidere,
NJ/Belvidere
HS). The Greyhounds would take an 8-7 lead with two more unearned runs in
the top of the seventh inning. With two outs, Welles reached on an error and eventually scored on a bases loaded
walk by sophomore outfielder Scott
Hettinger (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS). Sophomore
designated hitter Christopher Rue (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel
HS) scored the go ahead run when Bisco drew Moravian's fourth straight walk. Susquehanna
would tie the contest at 8-8 in the bottom of the eighth inning with an
unearned run before winning it in the ninth inning. Moravian had just seven hits in the game with
three by Durso
and two by Moore that pushed his school record career
total to 142. Freshman Ryan Cummings (Toms River,
NJ/Toms River East HS) suffered the loss on
the mound for the Greyhounds, allowing the winning run in two-thirds of an
inning of work. Freshman Philip Spence
(Lafayette, NJ/Newton HS) started on the hill for Moravian, allowing seven
runs, six of them earned, on seven hits and two walks in two innings of action.
Freshman Andrew DelRossi
(Medford, NJ/Bishop
Eustace HS) pitched two innings of relief for the Greyhounds and allowed
just one hit. Junior Trevor Lawrence
(Lansford, PA/Marian Catholic HS) then tossed four innings, allowing an
unearned run on three hits. Lawrence
did strikeout three batters.
Greyhounds dropped their second straight game,
falling to Haverford
College, 15-6, in a
non-conference game at Gillespie Field. The Fords jumped out to a 2-0 lead in
the top of the first inning and Haverford pushed five runs across in the top of
the second inning to extend its lead to 7-0. The Fords added a run in the top
of the third inning on an error and two more runs in the top of the fourth
inning to extend the lead to 10-0. Moravian would eventually get on the
scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-RBI triple by Moore that scored sophomore designated
hitter Thomas Czarnecki (Columbia,
NJ/North Warren HS) and freshman second baseman Michael Zubia (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem
Catholic HS). The triple was Moore's fourth of the season. Haverford
scored once in the top of the sixth inning. Moravian would answer in the bottom
half of the inning with an RBI infield single by Shea which scored Rue.
The Greyhounds added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI
fielder's choice by freshman catcher Brad
Bodine (Mt. Bethel, PA/Bangor HS) that scored Moore.
Moravian scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull within 11-6. Shea hit an RBI double to score
sophomore outfielder Joseph Principe (Livingston, NJ/Livingston
HS), and Moore drove in Shea with a sacrifice fly. Haverford put the game away in the top
of the ninth inning with four more runs. Moravian had 11 hits with Shea going three-for-five. Moore
was two-for-four with three RBIs while Durso was
two-for-five. The Greyhounds used six pitchers in the contest with senior Josh Hunter (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton
HS) taking the loss in his first start of the season. Hunter allowed eight runs, just four of them earned, on seven hits
and a walk while striking out three batters in three innings of work. Freshman Zachary Andes (Moscow,
PA/North Pocono
HS) tossed one inning, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks. Andes did
strike out one batter. Freshman Richard
Schultz (Drexel Hill, PA/The Haverford
School) pitched two
innings for Moravian, allowing a run on three hits and a walk with a strikeout.
Freshman Joe Melchionna
(Marlboro, NJ/St. John Vianney HS) tossed one inning
with a hit and a strikeout while freshman Brandon
Palmsiano (Mountainhome,
PA/Pius X HS) tossed one inning. Freshman Brett Connor (Branchburg,
NJ/Somerville HS) finished
off the game, allowing our runs on two hits and three walks with one strike out
in an inning of action.
Moravian fell to Juniata College,
7-1, in the first game of a three-game Commonwealth Conference series. The loss
was the third straight for the Greyhounds after winning four in a row for the
first time in five seasons. The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom
of the first inning with a pair of unearned runs. The Greyhounds cut the lead
in half in the top of the second inning when the team scored its only run. Durso led of the inning by drawing a walk,
and Rue followed with a single.
Sophomore first baseman Matthew McCarthy
(Allentown, PA/Allentown Central
Catholic HS) then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Durso and Rue over to second and third. Sophomore third baseman Kevin Gambrino
(Brick, NJ/Monsignor Donovan HS) followed with an RBI ground out to score Durso. Juniata added a single run in the bottom of the fourth
inning and two runs in each the fifth and sixth innings. Moravian was limited
to four hits in the contest with Rue
going two-for-three. Junior Matthew
Swartz (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore HS) started on the mound for the Greyhounds,
allowing six runs, four of them earned, on six hits and four walks with two
strikeouts in five innings. Schultz tossed
the final three innings for Moravian, allowing a run on five hits and a walk
with one strikeout.
The Greyhounds dropped both games of a Commonwealth
Conference doubleheader to visiting Juniata
College, 9-3 and 6-2, at
Gillespie Field. The Eagles jumped out
to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the first game. Moravian responded with two runs in the bottom
half of the inning. With one out, junior outfielder Josh Baltz (Easton, PA/Easton HS) and Moore hit back-to-back singles. Durso then hit an RBI double to score Baltz, and Moore
would score on a sacrifice fly by Welles.
Neither team would be able to score again until the fourth inning when Juniata took control with five runs, all of them unearned
as the Greyhounds committed two errors in the inning. Moravian scored its final
run of the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning when Durso hit a bases loaded infield
RBI single to score Shea. The Eagles
would add a run in the top of the sixth inning on another Moravian error. The
Greyhounds had seven hits in the game with Moore
and Durso
each going two-for-three and Baltz going two-for-four. Lawrence suffered his first loss of the season
on the mound for Moravian, allowing nine runs, just three of them earned on six
hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings. Lawrence did
strike out seven batters. Andes faced
one batter and allowed a walk before freshman Brandon Palmsiano (Mountainhome,
PA/St. Pius X HS) tossed the final 1 2/3 innings with one strikeout.
The Greyhounds would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the

baseman Brett Stout (Easton,

HS) and Shea each drew walks and
then pulled off a double steal. Baltz
followed with a sacrifice fly to score Stout.
Juniata would take the lead in the top of the
fourth inning with three runs, and the Eagles added three more runs on the top
of the fifth inning. The Greyhounds scored the final run of the contest in the
bottom of the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Moore
that scored Shea. Moravian had five
hits in the game with Moore going
two-for-three to raise his school record career total to 149. Freshman pitcher Christopher Morrison (Middlesex,
NJ/Immaculata HS) suffered his first collegiate loss on the mound for the
Greyhounds, allowing six runs, just one of them earned, on six hits and three
walks while striking out eight batters in six innings. Andes faced one batter in
the seventh inning before Melchionna came
on to record the final three outs.

The Greyhounds dropped its second straight match by two
goals, falling to FDU-Florham, 8-6, in a Middle Atlantic Conference match at
Rocco Calvo Field. The Devils led 2-0 after the first quarter and had a 4-0
lead before the Greyhounds scored the final goal of the first half. FDU-Florham
scored four of the seven goals in the third quarter to lead 8-4 heading into
the final 15 minutes. The Devils had a 39-31 advantage in shots while Moravian
had a 35-31 edge in ground balls and won 13 of 18 face-offs. Sophomore attack Keith Danner (Laurys Station, PA/Parkland
HS) led the Greyhounds with two goals and an assist while senior attack Daniel Larson (Dover,
DE/Dover
HS) netted a pair of goals. Senior midfielder Ken Blom (Rochelle Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic HS) and T.J. Hirsch (Putnum Valley, NY/Walter Panas HS) each scored once for
Moravian while sophomore attack Jason Tosches (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South HS)
had an assist. Hirsch led the
Greyhounds with ten ground balls while winning 12 of 16 face-offs. Sophomore
goalie Benjamin Larson (Dover,
DE/Dover
HS) had 14 saves and six ground balls.
Moravian suffered an 8-5 loss to Lycoming College
in Middle Atlantic Conference action at Rocco Calvo Field as the Warriors
scored three late goals and held off Moravian for the win. The match was the
second in a week the Moravian had scored the first two goals before eventually
losing. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead near the middle of the first
quarter on a pair of goals in less than 30 seconds including a man-up goal by Daniel Larson. Lycoming scored the next
five goals in the match to trail 2-1 at the end of the first quarter and lead
3-2 at halftime. The Warriors extended their lead to 5-2 before Moravian scored
a pair of third quarter tallies to trail just 5-4 with 15 minutes to play. Lycoming would run of three goals in a 1:05
late in the fourth quarter before the Greyhounds netted the final tally with a
man-up goal with 34 seconds to play. The Warriors had a 34-23 advantage in shots,
q 40-29 edge in ground balls and won ten of 17 face-offs. Tosches led Moravian with a hat trick while Hirsch had a goal and two assists. The three points, including an
assist on Tosches' final goal to end the match, gave Hirsch 100 points for his career, the
third player in school history to score 100 points. Hirsch has 69 career goals and 31 career
assists. Hirsch, who leads the
nation in ground balls per game, had just three in the contest but did become
the first player in school history with 300 career ground balls with 301. Hirsch also entered the match
nationally ranked in face-off percentage but was just five of 13 against the
Warriors. Daniel Larson had a goal
and an assist for the Greyhounds while Danner
had a pair of assists. Sophomores midfielder Brian Cleaver (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) and defender Steven Carroll (West Caldwell, NJ/James
Caldwell HS) each had four ground balls to lead Moravian while Benjamin Larson contributed 16 saves
and three ground balls.

Moravian dropped an 18-12 non-conference decision at Gwynedd-Mercy College. The Greyhounds scored the first
goal of the match and trailed just 7-4 when the Griffins ran off six straight
goals for a 13-4 lead. Gwynedd-Mercy had a 35-26 advantage in shots and a 14-8
edge in draw controls while Moravian had a 17-9 edge in ground balls. Senior
attack Lindsey Lustrino (Spring Lake,
NJ/Manasquan HS), junior midfielder Erica
Spatz (Pennsauken, NJ/ Pennsauken HS), freshman
midfielder Paige Warbrick
(Souderton, PA/Souderton HS) and freshman attack Jillian Pagliei (Ivyland,
PA/Council Rock North HS) each scored two goals for the Greyhounds while
junior midfielder Robyn Klem (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) and
sophomore attack Georgia Castellano
(Cherry Hills, NJ/ Cherry Hills West HS) each had a goal and an assist.
Freshmen midfielder Lynda Kauffman (Boothwyn, PA/ Chichester HS) and attack Kayla Carson (Wyomissing,
PA/Wyomissing HS) each found
the back of the net once while freshman midfielder Brittany Deiling (Chews Landing, NJ/Triton
Regional HS) had an assist. Freshman goalie Katie Wise (Ardsley,
PA/Abington HS) made 12 stops
for the Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds fell to
Messiah College, 18-7, in a Middle Atlantic
Conference match. The Falcons had an 11-5 lead at halftime. The Falcons had a
35-10 advantage in shots, a 19-15 edge in ground balls and a 22-6 advantage in
draw controls in the match. Lustrino
led Moravian with three goals and an assist while Spatz netted two goals. Lustrino
now has school records of 129 career goals and 142 points, and she tied has the
record for career assists with 13. Junior midfielder Casey Simpson (Laporte,
PA/Sullivan
County HS)
and Castellano each found the back
of the cage once for the Greyhounds. Castellano
and Kauffman each had three ground
balls for Moravian while Spatz had three draw controls. Wise made 12 saves for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds competed in the non-scoring Lafayette College
6-Way Meet, hosted by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania due to
construction on Lafayette's
track. Moravian had four individual winners and a relay team
take first place at the meet while setting three school records at the
meet. Freshman Dana Haslett (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge
HS) won the 100-meter dash in 12.36 seconds, and she captured first in the
200-meter dash in a school record and NCAA Division III provisional qualifying
time of 25.15 seconds. Freshman Anna
Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown
HS) won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.91 while sophomore Christine Kihm (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown
HS) won the pole vault, clearing a school record height of 3.50 meters (11
feet, six inches). The Greyhounds' 4x100-meter relay squad of Haslett, freshman Rachel Beck (Churchville, PA/Council Rock South HS) and seniors Erin Recker (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua HS) and
Amy Reehil (Roselle,
NJ/Roselle Catholic HS) won in a school record and NCAA Division III
provisional qualifying time of 48.17 seconds.
Recker was the
runner-up to Haslett in the
100-meter dash with a time of 12.52 seconds and in the 200-meter dash in 25.65
seconds. Beck placed fifth in the
100-meter dash at 12.80 seconds, and she was sixth in the 200-meter dash in
26.83 seconds. Reehil
finished sixth in the 100-meter in a time of 12.93 seconds. Senior Suzanne Tamlyn (Wappingers Falls, NY/Wallkill HS) was eighth in the 100-meter dash at
13.02 seconds and ninth in the 200-meter dash in 27.27 seconds while senior Kathleen McCarron
(Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) finished
tenth in the 100-meter dash in 13.42 seconds. Freshman Jessica Posimo (Philadelphia,
PA/St.
Basil Academy)
placed 11th in the 200-meter dash in 27.95 seconds while freshman Kaitlyn Boyer (Ole, PA/Oley Valley HS) was
sixth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:02.37.
Posimo
was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.70 seconds while Heim placed 11th in 16.83 seconds. Reehil also finished fourth in
the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.14 while freshman Katelyn Chando (Coopersburg,
PA/Southern Lehigh
HS) was ninth in 1:11.01. Sophomore Naomie Kachel (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin HS) was seventh in the
3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 13:53.68 while junior Katie Pulizzano (Allentown, PA/William
Allen HS) placed tenth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:32.00.
In the jumping events, Posimo was fifth in the long
jump at 4.94 meters (16 feet, 2 1/2 inches), fifth in the triple jump at 10.62
meters (34 feet, 10 1/4 inches) and seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.54
meters (five feet, one inch). Heim was seventh in the long jump at 4.84 meters
(15 feet, 10 1/2 inches) while McCarron placed tenth after a leap of 4.66 meters (14 feet,
11 1/4 inches). McCarron
was also ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.09 meters (33 feet, 1
1/4 inches). Freshman Rachel Riggs
(Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) placed 12th in the long jump with a leap of
4.42 meters (14 feet, six inches), and she was tenth in the triple jump at
10.06 meters (33 feet, 1/4 inch). Freshman Cassidy
Thomas (Arnold, MD/Broadneck HS) placed 14th in
the long jump after recording a distance of 4.37 meters (14 feet, four inches)
while classmate Queenie Tang (Bedminster, NJ/Chatham HS) was
ninth in the triple jump at 10.16 meters (33 feet, four inches). Sophomore Thea Kennerknecht (Central
Valley, NY/Monroe-Woodbury HS) placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing
2.74 meters (nine feet).
Freshman Flora
Robertson (Hawley, PA/East Stroudsburg North HS) placed seventh in the
discus throw with a toss of 32.89 meters (107 feet, 11 1/4 inches), and she was
11th in the shot put with a distance of 9.34 meters (30 feet, 7 3/4 inches). Thomas placed 12th in the shot put
after a toss of 8.14 meters (26 feet, 8 1/2 inches).

The Greyhounds competed in the non-scoring Lafayette College
6-Way Meet, hosted by East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania due to
construction on Lafayette's
track. Moravian had one individual winner and a relay team
take first place at the meet. Junior Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh
HS) won the 110-meter high hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional
qualifying time of 14.80 seconds while the 4x100-meter relay squad of Brown, senior Josh Kline (Reading, PA/Exeter HS), junior James Bell (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin HS) and sophomore Robert Shaffer (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville
HS) was first in 42.60 seconds.
Brown also
placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.00 seconds and third in the 200-meter
dash at 21.78 seconds while Shaffer
was sixth in the 100-meter dash at 11.46 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter
dash in a time of 22.55 seconds. Kline
had times of 11.56 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 23.09 seconds in the
200-meter dash while Bell was 12th
in the 100-meter dash in 12.48 seconds. Sophomore Alan Woods (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff HS) also ran the 100-meter dash in
11.56 seconds, tying for seventh, while junior Vince Pagano (Harrisburg,
PA/Central Dauphin East HS) was
14th in the 200-meter dash in 24.32 seconds. Junior Khizer Tariq (Bethlehem,
PA/Saucon
Valley HS) took
eighth in the 400-mter dash in 54.33 seconds. Sophomore Jared Henrie (Pennington,
NJ/Hopewell
Valley HS) placed
eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.02.
Freshman Steven
DeFazio (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville
HS) placed ninth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:18.89 while
sophomore John McCullough (Levittown, PA/Conwell
Egan HS) took 12th in 5:06.08. Freshman Steve Parisi (Kunkletown,
PA/Pleasant
Valley HS) led a trio
of Greyhounds in the 800-meter run, placing 12th in 2:01.42. Sophomore Tim Murphy (Bethlehem,
PA/Bethlehem
Catholic HS) was 14th in 2:04.72 while freshman Nick Shubert (Doylestown, PA/Central bucks East HS) placed 17th in
2:13.40. Parisi,
Murphy, Shubert and DeFazio ran
on the 4x400-meter relay squad which placed fourth in a time of 3:37.55.
Brown was also
second in the long jump with a distance of 6.84 meters (22 feet, 5 1/4 inches)
while freshman Mike Blenk
(Inwood, NY/Lawrence HS) placed fifth at 6.36
meters (20 feet, 10 1/2 inches). Blenk was also third in the high jump, clearing 1.81 meters
(five feet, 11 1/4 inches) and third in the triple jump with a distance of
12.84 meters (42 feet, 1 1/2 inches). Woods
tied for sixth in the pole vault, clearing 3.65 meters (12 feet).
Sophomore Blair
Maginnis (Asbury, NJ/Warren Hills
Regional HS) led the Moravian throwers, placing second in the shot put with
a toss of 14.60 meters (47 feet, 11 inches). Maginnis was also sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of
39.58 meters (129 feet, 10 1/2 inches). Senior Steve Kondorossy (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery
HS) was seventh in the hammer with a toss of 39.07 meters (128 feet, 2 1/2
inches) while freshman Ronald Draina (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen HS) took eighth at 30.40
meters (99 feet, nine inches) and freshman Matt
Wisotsky (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North HS) finished ninth at 27.51
meters (27.51 meters (90 feet, 3 1/4 inches). Wisotsky was ninth in the discus with a toss of 31.09 meters (102
feet, 1/4 inch) while Draina
placed tenth at 31.05 meters (101 feet, 10 3/4 inches). Sophomore Justin Starcher
(Greentown, PA/Wallenpaupack HS) placed fourth in
the javelin throw with a toss of 49.10 meters (161 feet, 1 1/4 inches) while Brown placed fifth at 48.16 meters (158
feet, 1/4 inch). Senior Michael Ossont (Valley View, PA/Archbald
HS) finished sixth in the javelin at 47.56 meters (156 feet, 3/4 inch)
while sophomore Mike Ientile (Manchester, NJ/Manchester Township HS) was seventh at 44.58
meters (146 feet, 3 1/2 inches).

The Greyhounds dropped their second straight match,
falling to Messiah
College, 7-2, in a
Commonwealth Conference match at Hoffman Courts. Moravian trailed 3-0 after
doubles action and won just two singles contests with win by senior Neil Caniga
(Hampton, NJ/Voorhees HS) and sophomore Keith Feinman (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield
HS).
Moravian snapped a two-match losing streak and picked up
its first win of the 2007 Commonwealth Conference season with a 9-0 victory at Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds swept the
doubles action with wins by the tandems of freshman Ian Box (Charlestown, MA/Ther Rivers School)
and Caniga,
sophomore Lee Gustin
(Allentown, PA/Dieruff HS) and senior Scott
Shelbo (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom HS) and Feinman and sophomore Jeremiah Reinhart (Effort, PA/Pleasant
Valley HS). All six players won their singles matches in straight sets for
the Greyhounds. Cangia's
single win was the 38th of his career, moving him into third all-time at
Moravian.
The Greyhounds dropped a 7-2 non-conference decision to
King's College in a match moved indoors due to the weather. Moravian scored one
point in doubles action with a win by the duo of Box and Caniga.
In singles action, Caniga
earned Moravian's only win at second single. The victory was the 39th of his
career.

Moravian will begin the spring portion of its 2006-07 schedule on Monday, April 2nd at the Lebanon
Valley College Spring Invitational hosted at the Lebanon Country Club beginning
at 12:30 p.m. The Greyhounds will also
host their annual Spring Invitational on Thursday, April 5th at
Southmoore Golf Course beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The Moravian College women’s tennis team, which was 12-1 in the
fall, won the Commonwealth Conference Championship and earned an automatic
berth to the 2007 NCAA Division III Championships, will begin its spring
scheduled on Thursday, April 12th in a non-conference match at Wilkes University
beginning at 4:00 p.m.
