Moravian advanced to a winner’s bracket game at 3:00 p.m. against the winner of the other first round game between second seed The University of Scranton and third seed The Catholic University of America.  The Rangers will play in the first game on Saturday, May 3rd at 9:00 a.m. against the loser of the second game.

DeBonis and Drew pitcher, junior Lauren Collini engaged in a pitcher’s duel through five and a half innings before the Greyhounds scored both of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Moravian freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) led off the inning with a ground ball back at Collini, whose throw to first base was high allowing Falzarano to reach first safely.  On the next pitch, Collini stopped her motion allowing Falzarano to move to second base on an illegal pitch.

Greyhound senior second baseman Beth Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) followed with a sacrifice bunt to third base, moving Falzarano to third base.  DeBonis then hit an RBI single up the middle to drive in Falzarano with the winning run.  After an out, Moravian junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) hit an RBI triple to dead centerfield, scoring DeBonis.

Moravian had just five hits in the game with DeBonis going two-for-two.  In the circle, DeBonis did not allow a walk while facing just two batters over the minimum.
