Safety Tiers for Fall 2020

CURRENT TIER LEVEL = 2

TIER 1

Campus Open

Tier 1. Campus Open. Classes predominantly in-person; classes designed as online/hybrid continue.

  • Campus returns to “normal.”
    • Mask wearing is limited to when a person is sick.
    • Proper handwashing continues to be encouraged.
    • Restrictions are lifted on physical distancing expectations (including classrooms and common areas).
  • Served dining options in The Star, B & G Cafe, DeLight’s Cafe and Clewell resume.
  • Varsity sports resume.
  • Visitors are welcomed to campus.

TIER 2

Campus Open

Tier 2: Campus Open. Classes are a combination of in-person and online/hybrid.

  • Handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing are required.
  • Students, faculty, and staff complete the COVID-19 symptom questionnaire each day.
  • Classes, meetings, and other events/activities resume. Aggressive mitigation and physical distancing measures continue; all CDC and PA Department of Health guidelines are enforced.
  • Some faculty and staff are working on campus; others are working from home.
  • Dining is available in The Star, B&G Cafe, DeLight’s Cafe and Clewell; seating in all locations with appropriate physical distancing.
  • Residential students are encouraged to remain on campus and not travel home to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • Student(s) testing positive for COVID-19 symptoms are relocated to isolation housing and monitored. Faculty/staff testing positive are isolated at home for a minimum of 10 days from the start of their symptoms AND 3 days with no fever AND symptoms improved. The employee’s primary care provider must provide a clearance note for return to work. .
  • Varsity athletic teams are permitted to practice with appropriate health protocols in place; spectators are prohibited.
  • Visitor access to campus is limited to academic purposes only.

TIER 3

Campus in Lock Down

Tier 3: Campus in Lock Down. Students Restricted to Residence Halls. Classes 100% online.

  • Handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing are required.
  • Students, faculty, and staff complete the COVID-19 symptom questionnaire each day.
  • All classes and student services are online; all campus buildings, except residence halls, are closed to normal activities.
  • Most faculty and staff are working from home; essential staff remains on campus.
  • Dining options are prepackaged and take-out only.
  • Residential students are encouraged to remain on campus, to stay in their residence halls, and not to travel home to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • Student(s) testing positive for COVID-19 symptoms are relocated to isolation housing and monitored. Faculty/staff testing positive are isolated at home for a minimum of 10 days from the start of their symptoms AND 3 days with no fever AND symptoms improved. A clearance note for return to work must be provided by the employee’s primary care provider.
  • Varsity athletic teams cannot practice or compete.
  • Visitor access to campus is prohibited.

TIER 4

Governor Closes the Campus

Tier 4: Governor Closes the Campus. Classes 100% online.

  • All classes and student services are online.
  • All campus buildings are closed. Access to campus buildings is approved for essential staff only; all others must request access.
  • Nearly all faculty and staff are working from home.
  • Essential staff remains on campus. (Essential staff continue appropriate handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing.)
  • Residence Halls are closed to all students except those approved to stay. Those on-campus students continue appropriate handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing.
  • Dining operations are closed except for those students approved to stay.

Following CDC guidelines related to Covid-19, common areas are regularly sanitized by staff.
