Tiered Reopening Plan for Fall 2020

TIER 1

Campus Open

Tier 1 Northampton County, PA moves to Green Phase: Governor recommends Education, Mitigation & Protection.

  • Classes, meetings, campus dining, and athletics resume without aggressive mitigation measures; all CDC and PA Department of Health guidelines are enforced. Work from home and hybrid education are encouraged where appropriate.
  • Students, faculty, and staff are required to notify healthcenter@moravian.edu if they know they have been exposed to COVID-19. Everyone who has been exposed should remain in quarantine for 14 days.
  • Visitors are permitted on campus.
  • Handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing are required. 

TIER 2

Campus Open

Tier 2 Northampton County, PA moves to Yellow Phase: Governor orders Mitigation Efforts to Continue.

  • All students, faculty, and staff are expected to self-monitor COVID-19 symptoms daily.
  • Students, faculty, and staff are required to notify healthcenter@moravian.edu if they know they have been exposed to COVID-19. Everyone who has been exposed should remain in quarantine for 14 days.
  • Handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing are required.
  • Some classes are still online; the majority of classes are in-person with appropriate physical distancing.
  • Some faculty and staff are working on campus, while others are continuing to work from home.
  • Meetings of all sizes are permitted with appropriate physical distancing.
  • Visitor access to campus is limited to academic purposes only.
  • Dining available in The Star and Clewell; seating in all locations with appropriate physical distancing.
  • Varsity athletic teams are permitted to practice/compete with appropriate health protocols in place; no spectators.
  • Residential students are encouraged to remain on campus and not travel home to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

TIER 3

Campus Open

Tier 3 Northampton County, PA moves to Yellow Phase and Confirmed Case(s) at Moravian: Governor orders Mitigation Efforts to Continue.

  • All students, faculty, and staff are expected to self-monitor COVID-19 symptoms daily.
  • Students, faculty, and staff are required to notify healthcenter@moravian.edu if they know they have been exposed to COVID-19. Everyone who has been exposed should remain in quarantine for 14 days.
  • Student(s) testing positive for COVID-19 symptoms are moved and isolated in specific residence halls and monitored. Faculty/staff testing positive are isolated at home for a minimum of 10 days from the start of their symptoms AND 3 days with no fever AND symptoms improved. A clearance note to return to work must be provided by their primary care provider. 
  • Handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing are required.
  • Some classes are still online; in-person classes are permitted with appropriate physical distancing. 
  • Some faculty and staff are working on campus, others are continuing to work from home.
  • Meetings are limited (in most cases to 10 people or less) with appropriate physical distancing and visitor access to campus is not permitted.
  • Dining options are prepackaged and take-out only. No seating is available in The Star and Clewell.
  • Varsity athletic teams are permitted to practice/compete with appropriate health protocols in place; no spectators.
  • Residential students are encouraged to remain on campus and not travel home to reduce spread of COVID-19.

TIER 4

Campus Closed

Tier 4 Northampton County, PA moved to Red Phase and Governor Orders Shelter-in-Place.

  • All students, faculty, and staff are expected to self-monitor COVID-19 symptoms daily.
  • Students, faculty, and staff are required to notify healthcenter@moravian.edu if they know they have been exposed to COVID-19. Everyone who has been exposed should remain in quarantine for 14 days.
  • Student(s) testing positive for COVID-19 symptoms are moved and isolated in specific residence halls and monitored. Faculty/staff testing positive are isolated at home for a minimum of 10 days from the start of their symptoms AND 3 days with no fever AND symptoms improved. A clearance note to return to work must be provided by their primary care provider.  (assuming the college wants to do this  but i highly recommend it)
  • All classes and student services are online; all campus buildings, except residence halls, are closed.
  • Most faculty and staff are working from home, essential staff remains on campus.
  • Physical gatherings or visitors to campus are not permitted.
  • Dining options are prepackaged and take-out only.
  • Varsity athletic teams are not practicing or competing.
  • Handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing are required.

TIER 5

Campus Closed

Tier 5 Northampton County, PA moved to Red Phase and Governor Orders Campus Closed.

  • All classes and student services are online, all campus buildings are closed to the public.
  • Nearly all faculty and staff are working from home, essential staff remains on campus.
  • Students, faculty, and staff are required to notify healthcenter@moravian.edu if they know they have been exposed to COVID-19. Everyone who has been exposed should remain in quarantine for 14 days.
  • Student(s) testing positive for COVID-19 symptoms are moved and isolated in specific residence halls and monitored. Faculty/staff testing positive are isolated at home for a minimum of 10 days from the start of their symptoms AND 3 days with no fever AND symptoms improved. A clearance note to return to work must be provided by their primary care provider.  (assuming the college wants to do this  but i highly recommend it)
  • Residential students go home except at-risk and infected students who need to stay (unless otherwise directed).
  • Dining options are prepackaged and take-out for approved on-campus residents only.
  • Handwashing, physical distancing, and mask-wearing are required.

Following CDC guidelines related to Covid-19, common areas are regularly sanitized by staff.
