Janine Jagger, class of 1972,epidemiologist and professor of research at the University of Virginia Medical School, shared her story of challenging established thinking to bring about changes that would protect health care workers from blood-borne diseases. Her work in this area earned her a MacArthur Fellowship. Jagger urged graduates to search for the ways they can make a better world and to be bold in the pursuit of their convictions.
