World-renowned graphic designer and artist Seymour Chwast gave a presentation of his work on the evening of January 18, 2017 as this year’s Ackerman Visiting Artist, and he gave a presentation to the community on the evening of January 18, 2017 . Chwast is regarded as one of the most influential designers of the 20th century and is co-founder of the world-famous Push Pin Studios (now the Pushpin Group), whose work shaped the course of graphic communication in the 1960s and continues to influence design today. His show "Poster Power" is on display at the Payne Gallery through March 5, 2017.

Alison Hawthorne Deming Agnese Nelms Haury Chair of Environment and Social Justice and Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Arizona, and she comes to Moravian Thursday, February 2, to present “Going Hybrid: New Relationships between Art and Science in the Era of Climate Change” at 7:00 p.m. in Prosser Auditorium. Deming, a descendant of 19th-century novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne, has a lot in common with her ancestor.

Alison Holliday, assistant professor of chemisty, and former student John Barr ’15 broke new ground in the study of protein folding. Their research was published in the November 15, 2016, edition of the journal Analytical Chemistry.

At the December 3, 2016 Moravian College Christmas Vespers, 9-year-old Pippa Grigsby, the daughter of Moravian College President Bryon Grigsby ’90, sang the solo in the traditional Vespers hymn Morning Star. This was the first time in the history of the college that a president’s daughter sang the Morning Star solo. We spoke with Pippa by phone about her performance.
