Student Opportunities

German, Spanish, and French Clubs

The department has clubs in German, French, and Spanish. Students are strongly encouraged to join these clubs and participate in their social and cultural activities on and off campus. Such activities include get-togethers, visits to museums and attending events in New York City and Philadelphia. If interested, please contact your language instructor.

The German house on campus also offers German majors the possibilities to live with German exchange students.

Phi Sigma Iota: International Foreign Language Honor Society

Phi Sigma Iota is for upperclassmen pursuing a curriculum with an emphasis in foreign languages and cultures. Candidates must have achieved a designated overall GPA as well as a required grade-point average in their foreign language courses. The society fosters “a discerning and sympathetic understanding of the other peoples of the world.” It sponsors speakers, films, and other activities related to foreign languages.
