Introduction to Extremal Problems
By Dr. Shank
How can we find The minimum or maximum of something? If we have had calculus, we know we might be able to use derivatives. But what if we can not use calculus? What if we have to come up with a new way to find the min/max? And, with most mathematics, finding the answer is only half of the problem. You must explain WHY the answer is correct. In this talk we will learn the basics of extremal problems, which can be extremally hard yet which may someday save the world from aliens.
