My Moravian
June 11, 2017
As someone who has just finished his undergraduate career at Moravian—I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English May 13—I am so excited to continue on at Moravian this Summer as a Graduate Student with the Education Department. With so many options after graduation it can sometimes be difficult to know exactly what the next step can be, but with the graduate programs here I am confident that I am moving forward in the right direction. Here are three reasons why a Moravian Graduate Education was right for me.

One of the best things about being a student is having summers off. As a senior I am unfortunately preparing myself for the loss of this privilege (I cry sometimes), but because my free summers are finished, I feel it is my duty to give advice to those of you who may still have a few left. Summer breaks are a great time for travel, relaxation, and making some extra money at your preferred job, but there are other options. The Student Opportunities for Academic Research (SOAR) program offers students from all disciplines opportunities to spend a portion of their summer on campus performing research. Now I know what you are thinking, ‘why would I want to go back to Moravian and lose my free summer,’ but I promise SOAR is a great option.

Ahh the life of a commuter. Whether we are still living at home (me) or are driving to campus from our own apartments or houses, the one thing that connects us all is the trip we have to make every morning to Moravian. After four years I think I have learned a thing or two, and I am here to share my wisdom from the countless hours I’ve spent behind the wheel. Don’t worry, they are not all as painfully obvious as the title.

After writing about primarily food and books for the past few months I thought it would be a nice change of pace to talk about something on campus that is a little more serious. Omicron Delta Kappa (OΔK) is the Leadership Honors Society at Moravian and a club that I am proud to represent as president.

All of us, at one point or another, have fallen victim to the doom and gloom that is college dining monotony. But what is truly missing from our undergraduate diets? One word: variety. Eating from the same place every day is sure to breed distaste, and the Blue and Grey is no exception. But blowing all your extra cash on a few good meals a week doesn't seem smart, either. Here are four restaurants in Bethlehem, PA, all within walking distance (sorta) of Moravian College, that are sure to spice up your lunch break without breaking the bank of a broke college student.
