Hounds Experience Beatlemania!
By Coach Endler
Day three in Liverpool will be known as Beatles Day.
We experienced two of the major attractions that Liverpool has dedicated to the Fab Four. In the morning we walked next door from our hotel to the Beatles Story museum to learn about the history of the famous rock band. Each of us were given an audio headset as we entered the museum to help us guide us through the exhibits. Little did the staff know that we had the BIGGEST Beatles Fan amongst our group: Elizabeth Eddinger. Decked out in her Beatles hat and t-shirt Elizabeth was so excited to get to know her favorite group up close, although she probably could have worked there since she knew just about everything there is to know about the Beatles! Much was learned and it was interesting to see rare photos, instruments, and recordings.
After an entertaining and informative tour the group split up to grab lunch. In the early afternoon, we all reconviened to start the second half of our day of Beatles: The Magical Mystery Bus Tour. We boarded a multi colored bus to explore the city in which John , Paul, George, and Ringo, all grew up. Along with commentary from our guide, we heard and sang along to all the songs. Stops along the way included: Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, the homes where each of the Beatles grew up, the Empire Theatre, and finally the Cavern Club were the Beatles played 292 times in 3 years. While there we enjoyed a live act who was playing Beatles songs and took requests. It was quiet the experience, something that I would highly recommend if you ever get the chance to visit Liverpool.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Liverpool, but now it is time to continue our journey. Tomorrow we will head to Oxford on our way to London. Stay tuned for our next adventure. Cheers!!
