So what do art majors do? For people who don’t frequent South Campus often because their classes confine them to Main Campus, it can be a mystery as to what goes on at the oldest part of campus. Oftentimes people think that art majors are painting or drawing all day long, but there is so much more to the department than that.

There is no doubt that Moravian College encourages freedom of expression among students. Moravian College emphasizes the importance of the arts and holds several events and showcases to show students several forms of artwork. During the past weeks, there were two artists showcasing their work on North and South Campus. On September 7th, the Payne Gallery on South Campus showcased Clarity Haynes and several of her works for her project “Bearing Witness.” On September 12th, the Haupert Union Building showcased artwork from the Art Department’s very own Ashley Kuhn. Both artists had excellent exhibitions and were a great way for students to come together and appreciate what the artists had to offer.

Business is one of the most commonly pursued degree fields in college today. Colleges across the country offer increasingly competitive and impressive business programs, churning out the bright young leaders of tomorrow's business world. Moravian College is no exception to this phenomenon. Our business department currently offers six broad majors, most containing multiple more finely tuned tracks within them, as well as a graduate program and multiple business integrated extracurricular organizations. The department has been praised not only for its knowledgable faculty, but its alumni connections, wide variety of course offerings, and available hands on experiences. After reading interviews from a few students currently in the Moravian business department, it's clear to see why our hard working pupils are so proud of their department.

The Moravian Mathematics & Computer Science Department is home to some of the most intelligent people on campus - at least, in my opinion. While simultaneously solving the world’s problems through origami and drinking tea, the mathematics department is full of hidden talents just waiting to be found. Take a deeper look at the “Mathematics” portion of Moravian College’s Mathematics & Computer Science Department: meet two professors, Dr. Talbott and Dr. Shank, and four mathematics majors, Brittany Strausser, Bryan Harvey, Emily Reiter, and Rachel Myers!

Moravian College is proud to offer a total of 30 departments and nearly 50 majors. For a small, liberal arts private college, that’s pretty impressive! Every student who is fully immersed in their major feels a strong connection and bond to their own department. As an English major, I can say for a fact we are a very close-knit community. We all have our quirks, our differences, disagreements of course, but at the end of the day, we can all share a special kind of friendship knowing we are among others like ourselves. Who else can you text for moral support while procrastinating on your Hands-On Learning Assignment? Who else can you unleash your literary angst upon when your professor assigns “Frankenstein” after you’ve read it three times already? And of course, who else can you vent to but other English majors about the pains of being required to write a sonnet? The students involved in the English Department also know, however, that the professors are some of the most caring, compassionate, and intelligent members of the campus community. So what exactly makes the English Department unique? Well, let us, the English majors, introduce you to our community.
