The sun, light, and heat: a trifecta that usually means picnics, swimming, hiking, and amusement parks. However, rainy days don’t necessarily mean an end to the fun. Stormy skies and chilly air can mean a great night in with friends, or adventures to places you never would have thought of. The Lehigh Valley is full of hidden locations perfect for any drizzly day.

As the digital age slowly wipes out the physical portion of reading and writing, the Moravian College community has the opportunity to turn to a club that has grown and adapted with the times: The Comenian.

There is no doubt that Moravian College encourages freedom of expression among students. Moravian College emphasizes the importance of the arts and holds several events and showcases to show students several forms of artwork. During the past weeks, there were two artists showcasing their work on North and South Campus. On September 7th, the Payne Gallery on South Campus showcased Clarity Haynes and several of her works for her project “Bearing Witness.” On September 12th, the Haupert Union Building showcased artwork from the Art Department’s very own Ashley Kuhn. Both artists had excellent exhibitions and were a great way for students to come together and appreciate what the artists had to offer.

I embarked on a study abroad experience in Berlin, Germany this August through the aid of Christian Sinclair and the international studies office. The program is called the CIEE, and so far it has been a tremendous experience. I have met many people and have taken some interesting excursions.

Never, in a million years, would I have thought that during the summer after my first year of college, I would be visiting several foreign countries! In high school I was the kind of person who was not into trying new things or going outside my comfort zone. However, taking this May Term trip abroad was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I visited five different cities across Europe. Those include Venice, Salzburg, Munich, Paris, and Berlin. Visiting these cities and experiencing new cultures has been both eye-opening and educating.

It has been about five or six days since I’ve returned from Japan, and I’ve been playing it back in my mind ever since. Overall, the trip was probably one of the best, if not the best experience I’ve had while in college. Something about going to a new place on the other side of the world without any help from my parents was liberating. I felt like a real adult for the first time in my life.

After over two years of planning, our overseas trip to England has come to a close. As we sat in the airport in London waiting to make the long trek across the ocean back home to Moravian, I asked everyone how they would rank the trip on a scale of 1 to 10. The best answer came from Elizabeth Eddinger, when she quickly responded a 40! I would have to agree with her, the trip far exceeded all expectations.
