Moravian University Canine Po Madrid

Po Panda Madrid

My name is Po Panda. I was born on April 1, 2010 (yes my birthday is coming up soon, please send treats to my mom Liliana Madrid, assistant director of intercultural advancement) on an Amish farm in Pennsylvania. I’m a Morkie who was adopted into a fabulous life so I try to live it with purpose. I love people, cats and hugs. I have been pretty lucky and have enjoyed a lot of travel. I have lived in many different places, from Compton to the Hamptons and have made many friends along the way.  Every day is an adventure filled with treats, walks and lots love.

Favorite snack?

My favorite snack is homemade peanut butter ice cream.

Favorite activity?

I love to run! I’m a great sprinter but I can’t do distance. Nothing beats chasing bunny rabbits in the backyard or tearing up the dog park with my buddies. On a nice day, I enjoy just lounging around the backyard with my friends.

Favorite toy?

Mr. Penguin--he is soft and squeaks and loves to cuddle with me, and he is a Penguin! I think we kinda look alike but I’m prettier.

Best friend?

My best friend is Benjamin (Benji) Madrid. He lives with my grandparents in Compton, California, but we Skype often and I fly out to visit him a couple times a year. We love spending time in Huntington Beach chasing squirrels and birds.

Your perfect day?

My perfect day is being off leash at the beach swimming, running and laying out in the sun. Mix in lots of bacon strips, ice cream and tacos and I’m in heaven.

What do you love about spending time at Moravian University?

I love the Students at Moravian University! They are puptacular they make me feel like a celebrity. I smile at them and greet as many as I can. I have an amazing team of walkers who look after me when my mom has meetings and programs. The campus is always changing and there are always new things and people to smell.

What do you do while you are here at MU?

I have long workdays—it’s not easy being cute. There are so many people to greet and bring a smile to.  When students are having a bad day or need to de-stress I’m there.  Sometimes people just need someone to pet and sit next to them when things aren’t going well. I take my best-friend responsibilities seriously, and I come to work ready to bring some joy. I have to admit I look forward to my doggy spa days to unwind from my busy work life.

Do you have a MOCO canine pal? if so, who?

Rosco Miller is my work buddy! His mom works in The Center for Intercultural Advancement and Global Inclusion too. On Fridays we work hard to greet everyone who comes in to the Center and make sure they get the resources they are looking for. We love it when students just come to hang out with us.

Is there anything else you think we should know or that you would like to share?

I love people! I have a bit of a Napoleon complex with big dogs sometimes but I’m all bark. I know I’m spoiled, but I deserve it, I give out so much love it’s only fair I get it back. I may not be the brightest pup in the litter but I always try my hardest. If you see me around campus, please don’t be shy, say, Hola! P.S. Yes, I was named after Kungfu Panda because when I was a puppy I looked like a little panda bear.
