Sixth Annual CPT Chris Seifert Memorial Golf Outing to be Held April 26, 2009

When a man gives his life for his country, it is only fitting that his legacy be honored and his family cared for. With that mission in mind, a group of Moravian College alumni and friends honor United States Army Captain Christopher Seifert '97, who was killed March 23, 2003, while serving with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The sixth annual CPT Chris Seifert Memorial Golf Outing will be held April 26, 2009, and all proceeds from the event will go directly to a scholarship fund for Chris's young son, Benjamin Seifert.

As a student at Moravian College, Chris Seifert was a trailblazer. He was involved with residence life, 26 Points, United Students Government, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley, and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was named College Big Brother of the Year and was a founding father of Delta Tau Delta's Theta Tau chapter.

While at Moravian, Chris met his future wife, Terri Flowers-Seifert '97, and their close friendship blossomed into love. After graduation, Chris received his commission from the Lehigh Valley ROTC program, then served in Germany with the 1st Armored Division as an infantry officer. In April 1999, he was deployed to Albania in support of Task Force Hawk. In 2001, Chris transitioned from infantry to military intelligence, serving with the 101st as a military intelligence officer.

Chris and Terri were the quintessential young army family—newly married with a four-month-old son—when Chris was killed. Since then, Terri has made her own mark in Chris' name. Beginning October 2003, she has served as honorary co-chair of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and has made many public appearances on behalf of IFHF and surviving spouses.

Initiated by the undergraduate Delta Tau Delta chapter and now headed by select Moravian alumni, the CPT Chris Seifert Memorial Golf Outing remains true to its original focus: Terri and Benjamin Seifert. Please honor a fellow Greyhound and his family by attending the next event, April 26, 2009, or by making a contribution.
