Love Moravian Style

Never one to be shy, Scott Severino '06 wanted to propose marriage to his college sweetheart, Tiffany Lisa '07, in a big way. Popping the question in June, when they vacationed together in Italy, would have been too predictable, he figured. Instead, "proposing at Moravian, where we met, just made sense," said Scott. "I wanted a big marquis, so hanging a banner on the soccer scoreboard near Jo Smith Hall, where Tiffany used to live, seemed perfect."

Scott enlisted Marsha Stiles, director of alumni relations, and his friend Pat Mancini '03 to help him execute his plan. Marsha suggested Allentown's Fast Signs for the banner. After checking with campus security and facilities about using the scoreboard, Marsha gave Scott the "all clear" signal, and Pat put up the banner.

On July 3, Scott suggested to Tiffany that they stop by campus on the way to the mall. "We arrived around 12:30, and were surprised to find the HUB open, with a tennis camp going on outside," he said. "We decided to walk around the quad to see where we used to live. As we walked toward the field, Tiffany noticed her name on the sign then read the rest of the banner."

On bended knee, Scott formally proposed, with the entire camp of tennis players cheering loudly from the other side of the quad. "We had some champagne and a small picnic right there. It was absolutely perfect." A July 2011 wedding is planned. Scott is a supervisor with Merrill Lynch in Hopewell, N.J. Tiffany teaches third grade in Flemington, N.J.
