Dr. Frank J. Kessler is a retired Nazareth physician.  He served as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corps.  He maintained a family practice for 30 years and was a dedicated physician to the Nazareth Area School District.  Do to his accomplishments; he has been selected to the Nazareth Blue Eagle Education Foundation Wall of Fame.
Mary Pongracz writes “Yes, we have news!  Martha Marossy Collins is retired and busier than ever.  She has six children, seven great children and three great grandchildren to enjoy.  Her love and interest in music continue to be a major part of her life.  Martha sends “hello and best wishes to all!”  Dolores Pfeffer Wolfe continues to work on the subsistence farm with her son Jeff, and his wife Dori.  They are concerned with climate, global economics and the like.  She ended her letter with, “Bless my computer.”  Evelyn Buss Conover is moving to Virginia to be closer to her daughter Jean, a nurse who helps people with their medical bills!  Her other children keep using their talents as well!  Oh and her computer is great!  Jeannette Rhoads Nesbit lives near St. Louis, near one of her six children.  Her other children live in California, Colorado, Ohio and Kentucky.  She has eleven grandchildren.  Jeanette had major surgery in March.  She continues her love of music and the arts by enjoying what St. Louis offers for its residents.  You can see Martha and Jeanette are still best MCW friends.  Zora Martin Felton went on vacation during the reunion activities.  That a gal!”

Zora Martin Felton continues as a volunteer at the Anacosta Museum, Washington D.C.  Imagine that, after her retirement 15 years ago!  She also enjoyed the holidays in Costa Maya, Mexico.  The cuisine and culture were most enjoyable.  Our 60th is fast approaching.  Plan on being here!

From Mary:
Fran Webber Horton’s annual listing of events left me breathless.  One of the highlights was a cruise on the Danube River from Nuremberg to Budapest.  Oddly enough, she saw an exhibit of Joseph Turner, British landscape painter, in Budapest.  Secret! Rod and Fran will be soon be celebrating their 50th anniversary.  That is a special milestone in today’s world.

Verna Lunglhofer Cowin and Paul were snowbirds this winter. They flew to South Carolina for late January and through February. Paul sadly did have a short bout in the hospital during that time.
Zora Martin Felton was in Bethlehem in September. We caught up about our college days. Zora and her friend were my guests on a “Cook’s Tour” of Bethlehem. Zora was amazed at all the new development, especially the HILL.

From the Alumni House:

Kathryn Horwath Hartman ’52 writes: “I was privileged to represent Moravian at the Inauguration of the 17th President of Dartmouth College, Dr. Jim Jong Kim in Sept, representing the colonial colleges, Moravian was the sixth oldest -1742. So I marched in the first line of the processional in the company of representatives of Harvard, William and Mary, Yale, Penn, and Princeton. There were more than 350 scholars, professors, and representatives from other colleges and universities. The new president has an unusual background. He is the first Asiann American to be president of an Ivy League College. Dr. Kim was a cofounder of Partners in Health along with Dr. Paul Farmer. They worked together helping to provide medical treatment to the underserved populations worldwide. In his inaugural address to the student body, Dr. Kim listed four goals: find your passion, be persistent in achieving mastery, pursue knowledge in the way that works for you, and embrace the planet's problems. The 5000 people on the Dartmouth Green enthusiastically accepted the new president. I too was caught in the spirit of the occasion.”

One of our own, Zora Martin Felton was honored at the 64th Annual Bethlehem NAACP Banquet on February 15th. Zora was the first African-American graduate of Moravian College.

Moravian College was represented by several members of the staff at the dinner. I was privileged to be there, also. Zora was the first recipient of the Haupert Humanitarian Award in 1982. She was also honored with the Comenius Award in 1991.

MCW is near and very dear to Zora. She asked to be remembered by you and extends her best wishes to the alumnae!

If you’ve not been to South Campus lately, the new buildings are nearing completion. We’re growing.
