Kevin Edwards was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Golf Hall of Fame at Green Pond Country Club on November 1, 2017.  The hall celebrated its 14th year commemorating Lehigh Valley golf and recognizing the area’s top players and contributors.  The organization now has 66 members, including two Moravian College golf coaches.

Mary Kate Turowski Andris, Ed.D. was named president and CEO of the YWCA of South Hampton Roads in April 2016.  She had been director of philanthropy for the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast.  In her latest position, Mary Kate is busy doing what she does best; increasing revenue from philanthropic sources while building the YWCA brand in Hampton Roads.  “We are always here to help.  During the month of October, we focus on raising awareness around the topic of domestic violence…from educating the community on what domestic violence is – a pattern of behavior that occurs when one partner attempts to gain and maintain power and control over another in a relationship – to helping those who are in immediate danger.”  The YWCA operates a 24-hour coordinated crisis response hotline with an online chat option to provide support, assistance, referrals and resources to every caller.  Outside of work Mary Kate lives in Chesapeake with her husband Kevin Andris, Esq. ’94 and their two sons, Ryan and Mark.  Mary Kate is a golfer and she and Kevin enjoy golfing together.  They are beginning to introduce their sons to the game as well.  Mary Kate says that Pebble Beach was the best place they ever golfed together.

Matthew Stone, Ph.D. is now working for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a neutron scattering scientist.  Matthew obtained both his master’s and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University.  He has been published in the prestigious journal of Nature Materials for “Proximate Kitaev spin liquid behavior in honeycomb magnet”.

Denise Auter Goble and her husband, Glenn, welcomed their second son, Levi Aaron Goble, on September 8, 2016.  Denise says that big brother, Luke, is a great big brother.

Dr. Bradley Lamm, was featured on the Doctors Show.  The Associated Producer reached out to help find an expert who could surgically correct Sierra’s deformed toes.  After doing research and asking medical professionals for opinions Dr. Lamm was chosen as the best expert to grow/lengthen her short toes caused by constrictive band syndrome, a birth deformity.  The show was recorded and Dr. Lamm will perform her surgery in the fall of 2015.  You can follow her story at www.thedoctorstv.com.

Mark Price and his wife, Carrie, are proud to announce the birth of their second son, Lucas Claude. Lucas was born on April 2, 2013.  Older brother, Nathan is now over three years old.
Mary Kate Turowski Andris started a new position with the Girl Scout Council of the Colonial Coast as the Philanthropy Director. In her role, she will be responsible for raising more than $800,000 each year for the Council.  Mary Kate and her husband, Kevin ’94 reside in Chesapeake, Virginia with their two children, Ryan (9) and Mark (6).

Kevin Edwards has been named a recipient in the inaugural Lehigh Valley Business publication’s 2013 Forty Under 40 awards program. The award recognizes individuals from the greater Lehigh Valley region for their leadership accomplishments. Kevin, the Director of Golf at Woodstone Country Club & Lodge in Danielsville, is also Moravian’s golf coach, succeeding Coach John Manuvek in August of 2010.
Ann Rissmiller Flood and her husband, Dan, lost their daughter, Lauren, to complications from a brain injury she suffered during birth. In 2008 they created Lauren’s Hope Foundation to help support brain-injured children and their families. In December of 2012, the foundation donated two Olympic cool cap systems and two brain wave monitors to Lehigh Valley Health Network. Ann and Dan and the foundation were honored by Lehigh Valley Health Network with permanent recognition in the lobby of the neonatal intensive care unit.

Ryan Zellner is a program director for Little Kids Rock.  This is a national music not for profit agency that provides training, curriculum and instruments in traditionally underserved populations (generally urban areas).  Currently, it serves 1000 teachers and over 100,000 students in 26 cities throughout the US.  In his role, he oversees all of the programs nationwide.   He and his wife Sandi Nuss Zellner recently moved to Montclair, NJ where Sandi is planning on being a stay at home mom.

The indie film, “9 Eleven,”  in which Samir Stewart plays one of the main roles, will be part of the Golden Door Film Festival at the historic Landmark Lowes theater in Jersey City, NJ on October 14. This Hindi language murder thriller (with subtitles) has been screened at various film festivals in North American, and has won awards at the Canada International Film Festival, Vancouver; People’s International Film Festival, NYC; World Music and Independent Film Festival, Washington DC; and also for Best Narrative in the Third World Independent Film Festival, San Jose, CA. Samir states that the movie has nothing to do with the events of 9/11 in the US, but there is a definite reason the movie has that name. Samir Stewart played a prominent role in the indie film “9 Eleven”.  The film won best feature at “The People’s Film Festival” in NYC.  The film has also been awarded a Rising Star award at the Canada International Film Festival in Vancouver.  Even from a young age, Samir has acted in plays and films.  Aside from acting, Samir is currently an economist at the World Bank.

Caroline Smith and husband Frank Stearns welcomed their first child, Henry Smith Stearns, on May 31, 2011. Henry was 7 pounds, 2 ounces and 20 inches long. His “big sister,” Ruby (the couple’s West Highland terrier), is still not sure how she feels about the new addition although Caroline and Frank are thrilled.

Jessica Gearhart Wenton completed the doctoral program in Administration and Leadership Studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania last March after successfully defending her dissertation, “The Impact of a Principal’s Sex on the Climate of Alternative Schools”.  Dr. Wenton is a Principal in the Pocono Mountain School District.

Rose Ackerman, along with husband Rudy Ackerman has been the face of the Baum School of Art in Allentown for more than 35 years, and will officially retire in March.  Rose started the fashion curriculum at Baum, and ran the school for many years, and has been the school’s director of development since 2006.  She will continue to be involved with Baum in an emeritus role.  Besides still doing some projects for Baum, she plans to continue her volunteer work.


Mary Kate Andris, Ed.D. recently completed and successfully defended her dissertation entitled “An Analysis of Women’s Giving Circles on Philanthropy in Higher Education.” She will walk in commencement at Widener University on May 14, 2011.

Douglas M. Milleris the 2009 recipient of the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service. This is the Department of Justice's highest award for employee performance. He won this award after serving as the lead prosecutor in the United States v. Ferguson, et.al. a case involving five Los Angeles police officerw who committed over 30 home invasion robberies whild acting under color of law.

Michael J. Smith and Kim Ranney are happy to announce their marriage on September 12, in Charlottesville, Va.  They currently reside in Brooklyn, N.Y.  The happy couple spent their honeymoon in Argentina.

Edward Bloss graduated from Marywood University in 2000 with a master of social work degree.  He passed his boards to become a licensed clinical social worker.  He was working for Monroe County MH/MR and Easton Hospital before opening his own practice with partner Clay Holland, LCSW in 1995.

Noel Fowler Hedges and her husband moved to England last August.  She writes, “It was a really exciting move and we are having a lot of fun.  My children Libby and Owen are adjusting well and are getting little English accents!”    

Tennant D. Magee Sr. and Bryn Magee are proud to announce the recent birth of their second son, Aiden Alan Magee, on April 29, 2009.  Tennant has recently started his new position as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office.
