Richmond Hill, Georgia resident Lisa Carfiro Ring defeated Barbara Seidman of Waycross in the Democratic Primary for the 1st Congressional District on May 22. Lisa will now take on incumbent Buddy Carter of Pooler for the seat in the November General Election. Lisa is a former corrections officer at Lehigh County Prison in Pennsylvania and the former Executive Director of the Allentown Day Reporting Center and anti-recidivism program for convicted felons on parole.

Calder Flynn and his wife Heather welcomed their third child and first son, Matthew Xavier, on September 12, 2016. Matthew joins big sisters Olivia and Kate. Scott Zientek was named Matthew’s Godfather in a ceremony in Buffalo, N.Y. Calder Flynn was named to the Senior Management team of M & T Bank in January 2017, where he acts as the business line CFO for the Wilmington Trust Wealth Management businesses based in Wilmington, Del.

Jon Buskirk and Brynn Saltzer-Buskirk ’04 welcomed a son, Reid Devon Buskirk, on July 10, 2014. Their seven year-old son, Nolan Russell, is a very proud big brother! Jon and Brynn will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in August 2015.

Lea Trenge and George Mosellie are pleased to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage. Lea is a fifth grade teacher at Fountain Hill Elementary and George is part owner of Easton Baking, Inc. The couple plan to be married in 2016.

Michael Zile has joined Susquehanna Bank as commercial relationship manager, vice president in the Berks/Lehigh Valley Region. Michael will be responsible for maintaining and developing commercial banking relationships and will be based in the W. Tilghman Street office. Michael is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Lehigh Valley and is currently attending DeSales University for an MBA.

Lisette Vafides Jones reports that she is married with 3 step-children who are married and 4 grandchildren. She earned her M.S. in Management from College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. She is a certified Zumba Instructor and working towards her Group Training Certification from AFAA. She is contemplating on returning to school for an HR degree or certificate and is looking into attending Emory’s HR Management Certification Program. She works for Randstad and Office Team Placement agencies.
Kristin Vazquez received her M.Ed. in 2007 in Secondary School Counseling from Kutztown University.

Bill Trub recently accepted an appointment in the English Department at Kean University’s new campus in China. He now lives in Wenzhou on the East China Sea and teaches ESL, composition and literature to Chinese college freshmen.

Lisa Casciani-Schmidt has been promoted to assistant vice president of commercial lending at Embassy Bank. She has been with Embassy for seven years. She is also an active volunteer with the Second Harvest Food Bank and a former board member of Emmaus Main Street Partners.

Alyson Dobracki will be finishing a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship. Last fall, her case report Multiple Head and Neck Tumors Following Treatment for Craniopharyngioma was published in the journal Pituitary. She is currently working on a weight-loss program for elders. She has received prizes at the Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatrics Society and at Temple University Hospital research forum.

Kelly Rindock, Jen Behagg ‘05, and Lori Khalil are is the upcoming “Mighty Macs” movie scheduled for release this weekend. They were all cast as extras on different basketball teams opposing Immaculata when filming in 2007.

Lorie Khalil has recently become Arcadia University’s women’s basketball coach. In addition to serving as the head coach at Centenary College for the past six years, Khalil has also worked at basketball camps in Connecticut, Maryland, Villanova, as well as for the WNBA’s New York Liberty.
Courtney Bruno graduated from Northeastern University with a Master of Science in School Counseling in May 2009. She currently works in a Boston Public K-8 school as the student and family support coordinator through Boston College’s City Connects program.
Jenny Hilkert ’03 married Michael Thomas on June 17, 2011 in Audobon, PA. , Nikki Spangler-Lohrman ’03, Karin Miller Buckner ’03, Jackie Reeves ’05 served as bridesmaids. Also in attendance were Luke Lohrman ’02, Aaron Buckner ’03, Michelle Lala Clark ’05 and special guest Bill Trub ’03, who flew in from South Africa, where he is working with the Peace Corps. Additionally Jenny and Mike recently purchased their first home in Mickleton, N.J.

Sayward Elizabeth Green Lippincott and her husband are expecting their first child around December 26. They still live in Dover, PA and she is the pastor of First Moravian Church in York, PA.
Jeff Melia got married on October 9, 2010 to Denise Penrose. She went to Kings and graduated in 2005. They are living in Bethlehem and Jeff is teaching the fourth grade.

Regina LaCaruba ’05 sent the following: “Bill Trüb has begun service as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa, where he will stay through 2012. He works as an educator and a teacher trainer at three schools in the village of Manyeleti, which was systematically ignored during the Apartheid. Also, Bill is celebrating the UK release of a new microfiction anthology, "Exposure." The book includes four of his prose poems and is named after one of Bill's works.”

Jill Wagner has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation “Engendered Edens: Postmodern Landscapes in Novels by John Fowles and Julian Barnes,” and will receive her PhD in English Literature and Criticism from Indiana University in Pennsylvania. She has also published several different articles as well.
Melissa Mertz Gurdineer and Michael Gurdineer ’02 were married on February 14, 2009, and travelled to Paris for their honeymoon.
Jill E. Wagner completed the requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She received a master's degree from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.While at IUP, she received a presidential fellowship, a graduate assistantship and was selected to attend the 2008 Pennsylvania Governor's Conference for Women. She also completed a Center for Teaching Excellence Reflective Practice Project. She was a member of the English Book Club, Graduate Student Association, English Graduate Organization, Cross Seekers and the College English Association.Her dissertation was titled "Engendered Edens: Postmodern Landscapes in Novels by John Fowles and Julian Barnes."
Alyson L. Remsing was elected to a first term on the Alumni Board May 30. Remsing graduated Summa Cum Laude from Moravian in ’03. She is currently employed as the Judicial Secretary to the Honorable Paula A. Roscioli and resides in Bath, PA. Alyson was very active as a student at Moravian and assumed various leadership roles including Vice-President of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society. Alyson has been an active member of the Alumni Association and most recently assumed the responsibility of Co-Chair of the Homecoming Committee.
