Carrie Fellon, president of Life Stage Financial Solutions, LLC, announced that her Broker/Dealer – Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. was honored as the 2010 Broker/Dealer of the Year in Division IV – the division representing independent BrokerDealeers with over 1,000 producing advisors. Life Stage Financial Solutions is a financial planning and investment advisory firm, specializing in college aid planning and retirement planning. Carrie holds the credentials of Certified College Planning Specialist and Registered Financial Consultant.

NPR affiliate WDIY 88.1 FM and host Eleanor Bobrow spotlighted Carrie L. Fellon ’04 on “Take Charge of Your Life.” The interview, which aired on July 19, 2010, focused on Carrie’s personal experience as a nontraditional college student and examined the costs of college and the myths surrounding financial aid. As President of Life Stage Financial Solutions, LLC, she is the Lehigh Valley’s only female Certified College Planning Specialist.

Catherine Steely Garces: Since completing my Moravian Masters Thesis, I was lucky to be married in June to my wonderful husband who I dated in college some 15 years ago. We reconnected after all of those years! We are buying a house in Palmer Township, and are hoping to get a puppy really soon. I am still teaching Kindergarten at Cheston Elementary School in Easton. I have continued to work on my professional development within my school.
Polly Hunt: When completing my master’s work I studied the effect of parent involvement on homework completion. As a result of my outcomes, that more parent involvement both increased student involvement in class and effected scores on assessments, I began tutoring an adult in reading through ProJeCt of Easton. This has led me to look into connecting data on the differences in student involvement in the classroom due to parent illiteracy. Although this will be an informal study for my own needs, I credit the years of course work at Moravian for my continued interest in studying my own work. I am an active member on our EASD’s Diversity Committee and bring the ProJeCt of Easton to our annual trainings.

Richard Pletz ’96 is the new CEO for LifeCare Hospitals of Dayton. Rick has over 30 years of health care management experience. Before joining LifeCare, he was the CEO for Kindred Hospital in Cleveland. Rick and his wife, Tricia, have five children and one grandchild.

Carrie Fellon earned the Registered Financial Consultant designation in 2008, for which Moravian’s Personal Financial Planning Certificate curriculum was a prerequisite. She also achieved the credential of Certified College Planning Specialist from the National Institute of Certified College Planners. She recently founded Life Stage Financial Solutions LLC, a firm dedicated to helping families determine the best strategy to pay for college.

Julia Miles ’08 celebrated her M.Ed. by going on a cruise with her husband to Alaska last June. In July, she spent a week at Gettysburg College, where she attended the PSEA leadership school. She enjoyed meeting teachers from all over the state, as well as getting to know fellow colleagues from Easton. Julia is in her tenth year of teaching at Easton Area High School; she teaches Spanish 2 and 3. She is starting the art unit with her Spanish 3 classes, developed as part of her thesis.
Melissa Orwan ’06 has continued her teaching career in the Easton Area School District and has gone back to school at the University of Scranton for a master’s degree in administration.
