Noah is a Moravian Theological Seminary student from Kernersville, NC, pursuing a Master's of Divinity. He is the recipient of several scholarships, including:

  • Christian Lewis Rights Scholarship Fund - created by Sallie Greenfield of Kernersville, NC, in loving memory of her great grandfather, Christian Lewis Rights, minister of the Moravian Church from 1847 to 1891. This fund was established to provide financial support to Seminary students.
  • Rt. Rev. James C. & Maurita C. Hughes Endowed Scholarship Fund - created by Donald and Ruth Lambert in memory of Rt. Rev. James C. and Maurita C. Hughes. The fund provides financial support with a preference for Master's of Divinity students pursuing ministry in the Moravian denomination.
  • Salem Congregation Endowed Scholarship Fund - created by the Salem Congregation Board of Trustees to support Seminary students from the Moravian Church - Southern Province. This scholarship helps cover the costs of room, board, and other living expenses.

Why Moravian Theological Seminary: I grew up Moravian and wanted to experience the fellowship former Moravian seminarians told me about. I also wanted to learn more about Moravian history in the Bethlehem area.

How are you hoping to serve your community post-graduation: I hope to become a pastor in the Southern Province of the Moravian Church.

Something learned at Moravian: It is hard to shed our own biases and contexts when reading scripture, but a better understanding of the original contexts can greatly inform interpretation.

Most rewarding since coming to Moravian: Beginning work in my supervised ministry placement at Edgeboro Moravian Church.

Favorite thing to do when you are away from campus: Play guitar

Favorite book, film, song, or art: Carolyn Bohler's book, "God the What?" While we may never be able to truly describe God, we can use many metaphors for the places we see, feel, or sense God in the world.

I can never resist a good____: John Mayer song

Who inspires you: Christian, my brother, for his endless creativity, drive, and positive attitude.

What the scholarship means to me: This scholarship means that I can dedicate more time and energy to studying and ministry rather than worrying about money and filling basic needs.

"I believe education and experience are two of the greatest tools for building leaders, professionals, and even caretakers. Moravian Theological Seminary plays a large part in providing both opportunities for learning in the classroom and in-field placement settings. However, those opportunities come at a great cost. I express my utmost gratitude for your generosity, without which I might not have the opportunity to pursue my call to ministry."
